Think I will continue to enjoy the 4400hp motor
the most. Its the sound of 3-4-5 of them getting
on the throttle from 7 miles away is a welcomed
sound to contemplate. A reverberation of sound
from a distance takes some H.P. and BNSF never
sends a train eastward over Steven Pass underpowered.

Funny how everybody else is limited by a 24 axel in power restriction. Corse CSX does have waiver to let 27 (3 ac) on the joint UP reefer train.

Three Dash-9s basically replaced four/five SD 40s...

Before the popularity of the Dash-9s on BNSF... We ran lots of SD 40s outa town, pulling damn near everything.
The restriction then was 36 powered axles. Most of the tonnage across GNs original "High Line" ran at least 5 six axle units.

I loved that sound too! Back then Interbay had control of outbound power consists... Now (since '97) they don't even come in for fuel.

The power cuts off, drops their train, ties up, and hostelers move the power. Power refuels at Balmer, or South Seattle, or wherever Olson Fuel can reach 'em from a truck!

Westbound trains can fuel up at the big station at Hauser, Idaho. That's the "on-line" point en route to Seattle, which basically cut Interbay out of the picture!

I still miss the Alcos... Plenty of 'em still out there pullin' like new power (expensive GE/EMD), and doin' everything from main line freight service ta branch lines, and yard work!

When Alco/MLW folded in 1969, that handed the reins ta GE. EMD has never caught up...

They might be next, IF they don't start building quality locomotives again, at reasonable prices...that engineers wanna run!

...like the unit in this clip. Look at the simple, uncomplicated control stand, the beautiful heartbeat of the prime mover...

Never was able ta find more'n a printed history of the BN's Interbay Roundhouse, but looking on line the new York Central, and Pennsylvania Railroad produced films for John Q. Public to promote the railroads, and instill good will for them.

I never wanted to run a train, but I sure like working on 'em as a mechanic. This NYCentral vid points that out. I couldn't find a "Part 2" because they (?) edited the film for time, skipping over, and through details that I think are important, or pertinent explanations...but there ya go! YouTube. Ya get what ya get!

Coupla hours at court, and I was released. The two attorneys DA, and defense) asked multiple questions of the 12 in the box. Then we were given 15 minutes break, upon return the judge daid "Mr. P... you're done!" Of course I was relieved, which was fine with me!

An alternate was seated. A middle aged white woman. In fact, the entire pool of potential jurors were white. No diversity in Linn County.

This was a criminal case. Domestic violence/abuse.

Big ass building. Easy to get lost in there. Just try to find a men's can! Finally...
