UP awards new crew-transport contract
EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- Evansville-based Professional Transportation, Inc., (PTI) just announced that it has been awarded the Crew Transportation Services contract for the Chicago/Proviso and St. Louis Service Units of the Union Pacific Railroad.

"Obviously, we are excited to be awarded this new business." explained PTI Vice President Bob Tevault. "PTI looks forward to expanding its Illinois business and establishing new operations in Missouri, Iowa, and Wisconsin." Tevault said to service this new contract PTI will open 17 new branches, increase its van fleet size by approximately 140 vans, and add 350 employees to its workforce of over 2,000 employees. "We are planning the roll-in of this new business into our operations with staggered start-up dates for the new locations planned through the end of August."

Ron Romain, President and CEO of United Companies, added, "PTI continues to experience strong business growth. Even before this new business, PTI conducted operations in 21 states. I am confident today marks the beginning of a long-term and mutually rewarding relationship with North America's largest railroad."

Founded in 1980, PTI provides ground transportation to railroad employees. As one of the largest such providers in the country, PTI drivers log over 70 million miles annually. Through its various training and customer service initiatives, the company has a hard-earned reputation for providing quality, reliable, and safe crew transportation services to its railroad customers.

Professional Transportation, Inc., is part of United Companies, named in June 2008 by Indiana Business Magazine as one of Indiana's Top 50 Largest Private Companies. With corporate offices in Evansville, Indiana, United Companies is comprised of United Leasing, Inc., Professional Transportation, Inc., and the Romain Automotive Group. With over 2,500 employees, United Companies has direct business operations at 130 locations in 21 states and manages leased assets in all 50 states, Mexico, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

Union Pacific Corporation owns one of America's leading transportation companies. Its principal operating company, Union Pacific Railroad, links 23 states in the western two-thirds of the country and serves the fastest-growing U.S. population centers. Union Pacific's diversified business mix includes Agricultural Products, Automotive, Chemicals, Energy, Industrial Products and Intermodal. The railroad offers competitive long-haul routes from all major West Coast and Gulf Coast ports to eastern gateways. Union Pacific connects with Canada's rail systems and is the only railroad serving all six major gateways to Mexico, making it North America's premier rail franchise.

The NS BLET has it for all engineers who meet the standard healthcare preponderance test or who are trainmen and opt in for a $29/month disability policy.

Were the fine professionals at Renzenberger the hauler of choice before bringing in PTI?

Locally, well, nevermind, this isn't . . . ah, forget it.

I've seen four different contract haulers since I've been here, and they only hire people from the methadone clinic!

I haven't seen a Milepost van in about 4 years. We've had Armadillo, Blacks, Renzenberger, Express, and looks like they changed their name to Coach America now.
