People need to really learn that the tracks are not a good place to fall asleep.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

JUNCTION CITY, Or. - First at 11:00, we have breaking news--leading off in Junction City.

A Lane County Sheriff's Deputy says a woman is lucky to be alive tonight after she was struck by a freight train in Junction City.

Officials say a Union Pacific train was rolling at under 25 miles per hour when engineers saw a woman laying by the tracks, with her head resting on the rail.   Police say they have no idea why was laying that close to the tracks.

Authorities say this happened on 16Th Avenue where it dead ends into the tracks.

Deputy Paul Vitus told KVAL News, "You've got a large train and a lot of weight. Even at a slow speed it takes a while to stop. They stopped fairly quickly but it wasn't in time. There's not much they could do about it." Deputy Vitus says the woman was taken to Riverbend Hospital (Sacred Heart) and is in critical condition. He adds that she was intoxicated. Junction City officials say they are still trying to determine the woman's name.  She had no identification on her.

No big deal. I sleep right next ta the tracks every night! And never...well hardly ever, have a bad night's sleep.

The only time the trains bother me is when some RCOperators refuse ta use air, or the utility forgets a few hand brakes...and slides a shitload of wheels flat.

Man... That's noise enough ta wake the dead!
