GASTONIOA, N.C. -- Hitching a ride on a freight train landed two Charlotteans in jail, according to the Gaston Gazette.
According to an arrest warrant and affidavit, Norfolk-Southern Railway Police Officer J.A. Talley caught Rebecca Raine Rosario, 22, of the 1500 block of Duckworth Avenue and Lauren Elizabeth Winchester, 18, of the same address, riding in the locomotive of a Norfolk-Southern freight train.
The discovery required the train to make an unscheduled stop in Gastonia and a 30 minute delay in railroad operations, Talley wrote on the affidavit.
The offenses occurred Thursday at 300 Hancock St., Gastonia, according to the affidavit.
Both women face charges of unlawful impairment of operation of railroads, riding in a train unlawfully and trespassing on a railroad right-of-way.
