I like this tune for no particular reason other than
it runs around my brain after I listen to it. Should be
listened to without the video interference. (minimize)
I like the da-de-da-de  part.

Blackalicious "Deception"

Marvin Pontiac should feel blessed that I mention his name.

Marvin Pontiac  "Runnin' around"

This has to be one of the "heaviest tunes" of our time.

XTC...has to be one of my favorite bands of all time.
Following their career through the 80's, they cranked
out some amazing fun music. Hard to pick a favorite.
As I've said before check out "Urgh...a musical war"
video. One of the greatest collections of live bands in
the early 80's.

XTC "Respectable Street"

"Blinker the Star" can't possibly be a household
name. Love this tune.

"Guster" who the fuck is that you might ask.
Well I don't know much more than you except for
this tune "Barrel of a gun" is catchy.

"Leftfield" out of London (Paul Daley and Neil Barnes)
are the pioneers of "intelligent dance". They were the
first to fuse house music with dub and reggae. This tune
from 1999 featured Afrika Bambaataa.

I can't describe how much I dig this tune. I get veklempt
and emotional everytime I hear it. "It screws with me".
A band I know nothing about. Never heard this song on
the radio. Have it on a CMJ sampler CD.

Splashdown "Ironspy"

"Supreme Beings of Leisure" out of LA have 3 releases
to their credit. This is a decent tune that I can still enjoy
after multiple listenings.

Neko Case...I love this woman. So many great songs
she's cranked out. Think I love this one the most.

Snippy does, too. Recent flight cross country, Neko on The Shuffle for much of the way across rural red desert America. For some reason, her voice just screams Oklahoma to Snippy.

Neko is also a Snippy favorite for always letting her fans know how to get tickets to her shows without a service charge.

I think it's a shame these days that many great songs
ended up with a hideous video. MTV and VH1 spawned
all this nonsense. The level of hideousness always seemed
to favor the pimple popping age group. I can't tell you how
many groups/bands/artists that I've never seen perform
live (or video) and in some cases their LP's/CD's were devoid
of any pictures of the artist. This You Tube deal has opened
my eyes to a lot that I've never seen before. "Blessed are the
people" who contribute to this collective. To me, music needs
to be listened to with the eyes closed for the most part.
Getting the opportunity to see a favorite artist for the first
time can be a mixed experience. "Oh Fuck! Gay-off-the-meter",
or some other letdown. OR it could comfirm your convictions
that they are as cool as you thought.
I think the video to this tune could have been much better.
Even though it may seem a bit slick, it's still a good song.
DJ Rap "Good to be alive"

DJ Krush has so much out there. It's hard to keep
track where he may end up next. He teams up with
artists, remixes shit like it's going out of style, you
know those 12" remixes that make the original seem
like a waste. There are a lot of artists with the "DJ"
prefix. "DJ Krush" is one of the most interesting.

DJ Krush  "Final Home"

"Magazine" came to be in 1977 when Howard Devoto left
the Buzzcocks and started a new venture. Magazine was
a band from 1977 to 1981 and a favorite of mine. Have
all their LP's and followed Howard Devoto throught the 80's
and early 90's. Howard Devoto is a strange cat but so are
a lot of lead singers in rock history. Just incase Magazine is
something new to you, enjoy a few samplers from their
illustrious short time as a band.

"Definitive Gaze" is probably my favorite Magazine tune.
You Tube had several choices of live performances but
I have to go with (actually a live performance as well)
the version from the LP "Play"

I was delighted to find some Magazine live performances that are
top notch.
Magazine "Parade"

Magazine "Permafrost"

Magazine "Song from under the floorboards"

Amon Tobin, a Brazilian has produced music for
numerous films. I love this tune a bunch. Definitely
recogonize the Dave Brubeck/Paul Desmond influences
here.
Amon Tobin "Bridge"
