  • A railway bridge located on the Ashcroft subdivision of the CN main line, near Cisco BC, shut down on Thursday afternoon, June 30th, as a result of a fire. A portion of the CN/CP co-production track, between Cisco, BC, and Coho, BC, is out of service until repairs are completed.
  • Repair work has begun, and is expected to be completed within approximately 48 hours. In the interim, we are detouring all affected traffic over the CP portion of the co-production line. While some delays may be expected for traffic circulating between Kamloops, BC, and Chilliwack, BC, to date there has been no interruption to service in the area.

NORTHERN BRITISH COLUMBIA

  • Early Saturday morning, June 25th, CN train A47351-24 derailed along the Chetwynd subdivision of the CN main line near Lemoray, BC, after encountering a mud slide. Track inspections revealed a number of substantial washouts in the area. As a result of these conditions, we have closed the portion of the Chetwynd subdivision north of Kennedy, BC, leading to Fort Nelson, BC.
  • While this shutdown affects customers to the north of Prince George, it should be noted that there is no impact to customers located between Wakely, BC, and Teck, BC. In addition, there has been no service interruption for customers located along the Stuart subdivision from Odell, BC, to Fort Saint James and beyond.
  • Repairs began over the weekend. According to current estimates, service is due to resume resume north of Kennedy, BC, as of 2359hrs PDT on Friday, July 01st.

It's going to be interesting what they come up with as a
cause of this bridge fire.

Probably a pool of creasote leeching from a new tie in the heat, was ignited by sparks from the wildly spinning wheels on a POS SD70AC.
