A constant through my 17 years as a "vegetable farmer from
my backyard" is the planting green beans and the harvesting
of green beens. The past few years I planted the bush beans
as well as the pole beans. Can't resist those purple bush
beans. They turn green after you cook them or can them.
This year I found a local store selling "Territorial Seeds"
(a seed company in Oregon that specializes in seeds that
will grow good in the GPNW) and planted their pole bean
seed. Well they thrived and produced this mega-picking.
This was about the 4th picking as I already had about
24 pints canned already. Home canned green beans store
well for 5+ years without any loss of taste of color. I've
been eating canned green beans from 2007 most of this
year. This picking resulted in 28 pints of canned green beans
and took 3-days to accomplish.
If you are in a horror movie, you make bad decisions, its what you do.
