Things are always changing on the railroad. Last Friday an arbitrator ruled that a merger between the United Transportation Union (UTU) and the Sheet Metal Workers International Association be implemented at the earliest possible date.

This may mean that UTU members who now participate in the UTU Discipline Income Protection Plan (DIPP) will be seeking BR&CF membership for their job income protection needs.

The BR&CF offers the lowest rates, extraordinary value and the best service in the industry.

Daily Benefit Level

$100

$150

$200

On a $200 daily benefit level, with a BR&CF membership you will save $56.00 every month. That is $672 annually!

BR&CF monthly

$38.00

$57.00

$76.00

UTU monthly

$66.00

$99.00

$132.00

Online applications for membership with convenient membership dues payment options are available at our web site, www.brcf.org. Tell potential new members to place your name as the referring member on their application and you will receive our financial thank you for the referral.

Telephone calls from participants in the UTU DIPP who seek BR&CF membership often ask if the BR&CF will waive the schedule for accumulating days of eligibility and permit them to begin their BR&CF membership at 365 days of benefit eligibility. The answer is no, we must respect the seniority of existing BR&CF members who have participated in the Fund for 2, 3 or 4 years or more and have built their days of eligibility in accordance with the established schedule. It would be unfair to our existing members to alter that schedule. The positive message to share with potential new members is that they will save money and begin with 150 days, which is more than adequate for most railroaders who experience their first disciplinary action, and the days steadily increase in stages to 365 after 60 months of beneficial membership.

I ask that you reach out to those UTU DIPP participants and encourage them to become BR&CF members. If every BR&CF member introduces one new member, we will become twice as strong.

Sincerely and fraternally,

J.M. Robb

International President

That gets you an immediate .zip file download of the Carriers' submission touting the Cumpany Union's Pattern Agreement.

Very compelling read.

Wonder how much it cost the railroads to come up with this piece of vomit?

Gawd, I love the Internet(s).

Would be nice to see what our money comes up with to counter this trash.

Myself, I don't give a rat's ass about being compared to other workers. I do not want to race to the bottom. Those other worker's should obviously belong to a Union if they want better compensation. The list of bullshit that they would buy is just that. Bullshit. They would use the money to pay dividends to share holders, then go begging the Guvment for the track work and bridge replacement.

There argument, gee we don't know if we will sustain those profits, is all bullshit too.
