I spent a few hours on this already tring to figure out what kind of

locomotive this is and what it's reporting marks might be. I'm just

not asking the right questions to the computer. This is what I know.

I took the shot in West Tacoma in early 1980's. Boise Cascade has

a pulp mill in West Tacoma. I drove by the mill and snapped this

picture of the little switcher painted in Boise Cascade paint with

no number or anything. A high noon shot makes the trucks of

this switcher in dark shadow but by "blowing the shot up" there

appears to be side-rods on each truck. These little piss-ant

switchers can be real hard to identify. I was hoping for some

link to Boise Cascade and their railroad equipment (reporting

marks "BCTX and BCTZ") but so far nada. Seems to match

several photos of GE-45-Ton switchers I've seen but never

quite perfect. The cab design and window arrangement is

about all you got in searching. The side-rods on the trucks

narrows down the list to about a half dozen. Help me somebody.

Blackie deserves a prize for that one! Weird that they'd use 'side-rods,' but the fact of the matter is that GE deployed ONE traction motor per truck, and ta boost efficiency of that one motor...it drove two axles.

Give that boy a prize!
