Railroad Photography...employees in action

I'm amazed looking back at the pictures I took when I was in

my teens how it seemed most rails were "hams" for a chance

to get into a picture. During my time on the railroad and taking

pictures from anywhere on company property and being a

known employee to all the  GPNW BN/BNSF train crews,

I was going to get a wave or the finger but mostly it was

friendly acknowledgement. I know things have changed

since 9/11. You are not even supposed to be close enough to

the tracks for pictures today and the train crews...probly

wearing sunglasses most of the time and probly no-response

as they roll by. I wanted to post this thought while it was

on my mind. Dont think this group is of the "ham" kind.

Still did you ever want just one picture of you at the

controls of a diesel of your choice.

Somewhere there's a picture of me lining a switch for an excursion train. I miss that mullet...

OK.. this next batch is from BN Interbay WA...before it was home of the Uke.
Time period 1971-72. Lots of "BN Patch Jobs" on predecessor locomotives.
I made 2-3 trips "down" to Interbay during this time period. Back then you
just went to the roundhouse office and there you could fill-out "release forms"
and then you could just wander about the facilty taking pictures to you hearts
content. Those were the good old days. Seriously doubt they still do that
today.
