Those 8000's are the dregs.  They were tacked onto the ass end of a LAMCO order and as such are basically LAMCO engines with microwave ovens.  I never thought I would see the day that I would be happy to have a Trash-9 on the point.  Those 8000's made that day come.  LINTCO finally got some numbered in the 8900 series that have the isolated cab, those are almost tolerable.

I see in typical LINTCO fashion the power was "elephant style" with the more despised unit in the lead.

Those BCOL units had air-ride seats that were actually comfortable for the first couple of years. And that is about the only good thing I have to say about them. (The key word here is had.)

Just before I pulled the pin, we saw a couple BCOL 4600 series Dash-9s drift through the terminal on a grain train... They were in the very last colors, delivered as BCOLs but obviously gonna be the new owner's (LINTCO) power soon enough!

Another "Fallen Flag" outfit...

LINTCO destroys all who serve her! Including the few minions of BCOL left standing after Hillbilly force-feeds 'em his new version of "How to Railroad, and Why we do it Harrison's Way!" They'll learn...

Last of the 'true electric' operations in North America, after Milwaukee pulled back ta Miles City, Montana in 1980...

British Columbia Railway was truly one of the last North American Indys. Their outfit ran in some of the most beautiful places on the planet, using some of the last Alco designed power (Montreal locos), and they did everything their own way!

Ya gotta wonder just how long it took for CN crews (after their takeover) ta figure out BCOL signals, like this fine example:

I was part of the PGE/BCOL years in the 70's-80's.
"Pre-red-white-blue" paint schemes. What happened
after that I dint care so much about. Once the CN
was "decider" in all things BCOL, I started losing interest.

Hated ta see BCOL fall inta the hands of CN... She's now a faded memory. Most, if not all BCOL workers have either retired, or at least had enough seniority ta stay where they lived, mostly north of Vancouver, or at least away from CN's madness centers.

Sadly the likes of -III, and -II carriers will face the same fate as BCOL as state/provincial governments "rationalize" their budgets. Goodbye independent railroading, hello big-team players.

When will BNSF sell off the likes of the Northern Branches? (Read Sumas, Anacortes, Kettle?)

Ya gotta wonder...
