There probably weren't any proper warning signs telling him to actually CLEAR the crossing before opening the gate so how is it the driver's fault?

PLANT CITY, FL -

A crash involving a train and a semi tractor trailer blocked Highway 39 by Moriczville Lane near Plant City early Monday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene. They told us, an unloaded tractor trailer turned off SR 39 to the entrance of Cone Ranch. The trailer driver Hector Villavicencio-Ferrer, 64, of Tampa, got out to open the ranch gate.

A part of the trailer was still on the railroad tracks when a CSX train transporting 137 cars hit it, according to the FHP report.

On impact, the trailer was pushed to the shoulder. Troopers said, the train was not derailed. The train engeneers or the semi-trailer driver were not injured.

The troopers closed the road for a few hours to investigate the wreck. Authorities cited Villavicencio-Ferrer for improper stopping on railroad tracks.
