The other baked beans...the ones in a can have been a staple
in North America for a 100 years. I've always liked baked-
beans canned or homemade but as a "portion/side-dish"
with some other great food item like a hot-dog. I've been
on the "Sodium Patrol" in all processed foods whether in a
can or frozen for the last 10 years and "they are killing us
with sodium". The best way to cover-up any food-flaw is
with salt and they "pour it on" to 10X levels. Getting back
to "baked beans" I opened up a can of Bushes "Southern
Barbeque Beans" and heated them up. So a 1/2 cup of
these beans has 550mg of sodium. That is 1/4 of what your
total amount for the day should not exceed 2300mgs.
Sodium overloads are almost certain in any processed
foods.

I don't worry tu tu much about a little extra sodium especially when my day includes sweating some of it out. And, if it comes from a source of a spectrum of minerals such as sea salt or Himalayan rock salt. There are worse things we could be eating.

I watched my mom make baked-beans in one of those
"baked-bean pots". It was all good eats. I watched Mrs
Krink going through the soaking of the beans overnight
and making some really good "baked-beans". I really
love a great "side-dish" of the tastiest beans ever.
Never want to "over-do-it" on the consumption of
baked beans even though the temptation is there.
