The Caddo Sheriff's Office said the intersection of Old Mansfield Road and Keithville Springridge Road has reopened following a train accident earlier this morning.

Around 6:40 a.m., a southbound Union Pacific train on the main track was diverted onto a side track and ran into a stationary Burlington Northern Sante Fe train. One crew member was transported to University Health for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. He has been identified as James R. Reedmond. Three others received minor injuries.

Sheriff's deputies said a small amount of diesel and oil leaked from the engines, but there was no hazardous materials emergency and no evacuations were necessary. Several empty BNSF coal cars were knocked from the tracks. One Union Pacific container was ruptured, but it was not holding any hazardous materials.

The intersection and railroad crossing were reopened around 2:15 p.m. today.
The accident is under investigation by rail officials.
