I spent a few hours today watching the you tube railroad

section and they got everything today. I dont know how

long You Tube's been around but it has been the

grand accumulation point for any railroad video since.

I mean its all going to be here eventually.

So I like watching fast freights go by starting at 50mph

and 60mph and 70mph. Finch Ontario on the CP is

where they go fast for sure.

The winter time videos remind me of the first time stepping down from a train stopped in a siding on 65 mph territory to inspect a hotshot speed coming by. I was standing in a farmer's field about 50 ft. back from the main and trying to be courteous to the non smoking old engineer so waited until the westbound called the signal climbed out and lit a little cigarillo . Well the fresh powder snow and that 65 mph draft..at least I got a few puffs in. no

Musta been a while ago eh? Before Canada went metric that is. They don't use MPH, or feet, inches, etc.

Either that, or ya might wanna edit that post, or re-post it with Canadian/Canadien measurements, the CORRECT measurements!

Thank you, your Staphph

Yes, Snippy's comments are 100% true on both topics. The former condition is sadly a chronic one way untreatable circumstance for people that resist the normal human instinct for physical exercise. The latter has been in remission for over 14 years now. Many stops and starts since that anecdote but it's over, now. Unkle Uke should probly do proper research on any contentious issues interweb-wise, before stereotyping any particular groups such as the benevolent neighbours living above him. no

My experience with a fast freight was a 70mph for sure rollby of
a SP WB TOFC leaving KC. Then I would say the next level is the
60mph speed for freights which usually can go higher and that
is plenty fast to be within 25ft of it. The BNSF route from Spokane
to Vancouver WA/Portland OR has a lot of 60mph track. This latest
find from Finch Ontario is from the same grade crossing but no snow
in this one. Probly a lot of wind though. This train has to be doing
70mph American past this brave soul with a video camera. This is
exciting to film and exciting to watch...a train "blasting through town"...
literally.
