Railroad company says oil train information should be confidential

Its a whole new world today "being" a railroad. All of

a sudden (in time) seems everybody is curious what

the railroads are hauling these days. I'd have to say

"what took you so long" but the public knows next to

nothing about the trains passing thru town or know

a boxcar from a tankcar or a covered hopper. Most

probly get a chance once in a while stopped at grade

crossing and just watch the train pass. Well now it

seems the railroads hauling coal and oil trains are

under the microscope and the press (which dont know

more than the public about railroading) are paying more

attention to the increase of these trains passing thru many

towns in the state of WA. A lot of ignorance being bantered

about by the protesters. Sure I'd be the first person to say

with the volume of traffic currently/future that a derailment

will most likely happen at least once..maybe during a MIR

period. Wow..if the public knew all the toxic shit that travels

around by rail everyday of the year...ignorance is bliss.

Well it seems that cant be anymore because the cat is

out of the grab bag. See how the railroads win over the

environmentals for a few more years..news at 10pm.

Just happen to see this on the TV news tonight. We got people counting
passing oil trains in the Everett area for a weeks time on their own time
and submitting the results to the media and the Everett governmental
offices. I had these observations a year ago or more from me being
trackside occationally and listening to the railroad airwaves. It seems
surreal to me that all of the sudden the railroads maybe forced into
disclosure of "all the bad stuff" besides Bakken crude oil that passes
by everyday. The GPNW is not in the Chemical Belt as compared to
the Southern States but gets a shitload of LPG, Propane, Butane,
and a lot of tankcars that used to be painted white or are still white.
Its really to bad that the railroads running these oil trains today have
to deal with...the worst fucking thing that can happen to an oil train
as "stock-footage" to any oil-train mishap, is the Megantic MIR incident
that very unlikely to ever happen again period. While this was a great
tragedy, the rest of the oil train derailments are likely to spare a town.
So back to Everett. I think Everett residents can relax somewhat to
an oil train derailment. I can tell you for a fact that every loaded oil
train entering Everett comes from the Seattle direction. A train entering
Everett from the South is not going to do more than 10mph until it
makes a stop. The outbound crew to take it north get onboard.
Departing Delta Yard and the speed limit over Bridge 37 is 10mph.
Point being is that these oil trains are going real slow thru Everett
and a derailment isnt going to amount to much.

So now Montana says we'll tell you everything about the oil-trains passing
through the state. So now more and more the railroads are going to have
release the hazmat report on every train passing through all the towns it
passes through. Maybe its a good thing that fire depts have some knowledge
of the possibilities because some tankcars derailing in a city or countryside
could contain just about anything.
