 Thank GAWD!!! that 'The Company's Whore' "union" successfully negotiated one person engineer-only crews on that railroad many years ago!

There could have been a conductor involved in the accident.

Resident Marion Inish said that without rail access, the only way in or out is by air.

Even to go to Sept-Īles by stand-by, its very expensive, she said.

The heavy rains in the GPNW have resumed after a 5-month
break. Running full speed into a land/mud slide is actually
pretty hard to do with all the slide-fences connected to the
signal system. But if its your unlucky day/night and the last
signal you saw was green and you got a good head of steam
and the next thing you see is a mudslide right ahead of you.

This is pretty much what the BNSF and Amtrak  and Sound Transit

get to deal with all winter between Seattle and Everett. If things

get to too "slidey", Amtrak and Sounder Trains get cancelled.

Only BNSF freight trains are allowed to passed through the

slide areas to trigger more slides. Trains rumble when they

pass by...a fact of life.
