Good luck with that, Snippy. Yeah, maybe Cy should have stuck around and waited. . .and waited. . .and, hmmm, still would be waiting. . .but maybe that'll work out for Snippy.

Buyout rumors don't happen until Spring here on the CSX, usually around late March....

Buyouts..sometimes the railroad "climate" becomes intolarable
and you go for a buyout. I got a $100K from BNSF in Jan 1999.
All sales are final as they never wanted me back which was
a possibility at that time..that their grand plan to elimate
every clerks position on the west coast might fail but it turns
out that BNSF carried on just like usual without clerks in
every city. After all the dust settled from that event, I could
be still working at Bridge 37 at the age of 61 had I stayed on.
I'm thankful for my early retirement in many ways as the past
week has been in the fog and working at Br 37 in the fog is
really a challenge. I guess you know when its buyout time
but do you actually "do it". Offers come and go.

Snippy is waiting for Wick to send him a buyout.

Cy could still be a LAMCO HAWG, tu, but when he looks at the weather, he thanks his luck stars that he doesn't have to even travel the treacherous highways.

Its a testament to your good luck to get to work every day
of your railroad career. I look back on 26 yrs of getting to
work on time and there were weather conditions that my
Datsun 610 could not make it through. Several Ferry Boat
rides that had trouble docking in 50mph winds. I was usually
pretty quick to lay-off preceeding the big storm. But
sometimes going back to work a day or two after the storm
is a life-threatening drive. Yeah and I always loved living way
out of town where it was worse conditions.
