Why don't they have green and red cards, tu? The BOT could amuse himself by using variations on the "Here's your sign" line. Think of the great fun that could be. . .oh, that's right, there's no fun allowed.

: also precipitate the Approach Job Briefing discussion in the       :

 :                                                                    :
: -    Engineers encourage their use as well, ask your conductor     :
:      has he received the tag and encourage the conductor to use it :
:      keeping them engaged in the operation of the train.           :
: -    Be professional to those who use the tag. It's use is to help :
:      keep both of you safe.                                        :
: -    If the conductor gets up in the locomotive cab to hang the    :
:      tag, remember to maintain 3 points of contact. The train has  :
:      encountered an Approach signal and the engineer is taking     :
:      action to slow the train. Be prepared for slack action while  :
:      the dynamic brake is being used to slow/stop the train.       :
: -    Use the tag and erect it in a location that keeps it in plain :
:      view of both crew members.                                    :
: -    Remember to take it down immediately when a favorable signal  :
 :      is given.                                                     :
: -    The tags can be modified at the conductor's discretion with   :
:      the addition of a magnet to allow even more places where the  :
:      tag can be hung from in the front windshield area of the      :

: All supervisors as well as Safety Committee members and Stop       :
: Signal Service team members will be on the lookout for these tags  :

I think an "Improper Display" APPROACH-Tag violation should receive less discipline than a "Failure to Display" APPROACH-Tag violation...

has the company issued a press release introducing ATSS (APPROACH-Tag Safety System) as their new life-saving state-of-the-art technology....?

... when can we expect the new ADVANCED APPROACH-Tag Safety System (AATSS) upgrade...?

For a dark territory guy, you sure have a lot of great ideas. Tip of the hat, Mr. PhMBee!  And not just any tip of the hat, but one that is most appropriate, in my humble opinion:

OK, guys, here's some of Snippy's ideas. Let's have additional yellow tags and include red and green tags! OK?

OK!

We will display them in the cab to mimic the last signal received. This will be the boss' job. At night, the boss will shine his regulation LAMCO lantern on the APPROACH tags. (We will call the whole system APPROACH T.A.G.S (Telling About Great Signals!!!!)

So look, we can also have lights hanging in the cab that the conductor can make into the last signal you're running on. This is a great idea! When you go into a new block, we can have a thing like a radio on a secret channel to secretly tell the boss man about what the next signal is going to be. He can magnetically hang the lights in the cab appropriately. If something goes wrong while they are in the block, the electromagnets holding the lights up will turn off. The lights will all fall on the floor and the engineer will have to drop to restricted speed. This is fail safe!

See where this is going? Instead of telling the engineer what the last signal is, we will convey information about what to expect at the NEXT signal!!! This will be incredible. What fucking technology!!! We'll call this system Cab Signals.

But, all of this shit is too expensive because what we are interested in is not safety, the most important thing is to have someone to blame. Oh, well.
