Seattle Mariners 2015..much better

Lucky for me Root Sports is going to broadcast 16-

spring training games. This a first and you bet I want

to be part of "deciding" who's the best. Seen some

great things so far..like our batting order. A lot of

talent assembled at Peoria AZ and it will be fun to

"watch" it unfold. I know its just spring training but

"stars" emerge sometimes. Will update this thread

periodically.

All of MLB is fortunate to have spring training 2015 with no
retrograde planets like Mercury/Venus/Mars. The Uranus
squre Pluto effects should last most of the 2015 in a lessening
effect but still could end a career from injury. The 2015 Mariners
have yet to be thinned down to the 25-man but as usual there
are youngsters having a great spring. Right now I think the M's
are going to come flying out of the gates come opening day and
never look back. MIR happens May 19-June 12th and then again
9/18/2015 to Oct 10th. The 2015 MLB season has 2 MIR's during the
season and most important during the "post season". To soon to
see how thats going to play out yet. The Mariners winning the
"World Serious" would be MIR so I have reason for some optimism.
Long ways to go before any of that is even on the radar.
M's doing good things so far during spring training.

Finally Spring Training is over and the 2015 M's get to see and
touch Safeco Field Easter Sunday with workouts preparing for
the home season opener at Safeco against the Anglels Monday
afternoon. King Felix against Jared Weaver. M's much better
in 2015 and I'm looking forward to see this team atop the AL
West all season.

Opening day at Safeco Field with the roof open and 46,000 fans
on hand (sellout) and amongst the 46K was the "Kings Court"
which is a section down the leftfield line in HR territory and they
all have yellow King Felix shirts on and are very vocal especially
when Felix has 2-strikes on the batter and they all start chanting
"K-K-K-K-K-K-K..." and Felix responds with an unhittable pitch
to get the strikeout. Its becoming a tradition now.."Kings Court".
and Felix loves it and responds to "all the encouragement".
So the King facing the LA Angels in the season opener at home
gave up a 1st inning HR to Trout but struckout the side. Felix
walking off the mound shaking his head giving up that HR but
that was all Trout was going to do at the plate the rest of the
game as Felix K'd him his next 2 AB's. The King pitched a brilliant
game going 7-innings, 10K's, and 2-hits and 1 run. The M's
bullpen was very sharp and Rodney gets save number 1.
Seems a lot like the same play the M's ended 2014 with.
Game 2 Tuesday night at Safeco with James Paxton going
for the M's. I'm so glad to have baseball on my TV again.

I dont plan to give every game a game summery but I will
comment on the M's first homestand of 2015. Like King Felix
shutdown the Angles Monday..CJ Wilson shutdown the M's on
Tuesday night. CJ mastered the change-up and bunch of other
slow nasty pitches and the M's couldnt buy a hit. James Paxton
pitched very well for 6-innings with one hiccup giving up a 2-run
hr to David Freese. M's lineup tonight could do nothing tonight
under the Mercury square Pluto. I assesed my mood before this
game and I was wondering how many M's players felt the same
as it was a "difficult day at work". Game 3 with the Angels on
Wednesday night at Safeco. Think Iwakuma going for the M's.
The first and second time through your 1-5 pitchers will tell the
tale of your season.

I understand human life and having to adapt to new surroundings.
The M's come "home to Seattle" which means 30 degrees below
what the last 30 spring training games at Peoria AZ. That takes
some adapting to. Then its adapting to your new bed in your
new house or apt or flat that each player has selected for the
2015 season. Just getting used to a new pillow could throw me
out of kilter for a few days. So with all that going its "Opening
Day" in Seattle and as a M you are psyched. King Felix does
his thing in game one and a win. Game 2 and James Paxton
pitches well enough to get a win but no offence and too much
CJ Wilson. Game 3 Iwakuma gives up 4 runs in the 1st and
another in the 2nd before pitching like he's capable for 6-innings.
M's make a comeback but not enough as the Angles take the
series 2-1. Considering the astrological aspects Sun square
Pluto and conjunct Uranus and Mercury square Pluto and
conjunct Uranus that this wont repeat itself for a long time.
Pretty sure going on the road to Oakland will reset just about
everybody on the team and look for the M's to play well.
Have to say the LA Angels have another great team for 2015.

The M's first visit to Oakland in 2015 and it got off to a
rude start with a 12-0 slaughter. T Walker had a bad day
in his debut giving up 9 runs. Games 2&3 were extra inning
games that the M's pulled off a win both times. King Felix
had some arm issues in his start Sunday but expected to
make his next start. M's are 3-3 like half the league right
now. Next its Dodger Stadium for a 3-game series.
No DH in the NL so it will be interesting seeing the M's
pitchers trying to lay down a bunt. This should be some
great TV viewing the next 3-nights. The M's schedule
early is not easy.

It dawned on me that the M's had to play the first 3 teams
that all went to playoffs in 2014 to start and it was 3-3 until
the visit to Dodger Stadium. M's came out swinging games
1 and 2 and had the lead all game but M's starting pitching
couldnt stop the Dodgers offense. James Paxton and Iwakuma
and Walker just couldnt contain this very potent LA Dodger
lineup filled with well seasoned vetrans. Howie Kendrick has
been a menace to the M's since his Angels days and inflicted pain
as a Dodger also. So the M's starters arent quite dialed in yet.
Fernando Rodney the M's closer last few games trying to save
a game has been disasterous. As bad as Rodney has been
the last 2 days..it breaks a pretty remarkable streak of consecutive
saves. M's pitching not coming out of the gates like projected.
Nelson Cruz is going for the most games in a row with a HR and
right now its 5. Nelson is in a hot groove with the bat. The LA Dodgers
are going to be a force in the NL West as they are loaded with
seasoned talent at every position. M's missed Kershaw and Grienke
but the LA rotation and relievers are pretty solid.
Next the M's head home for a long homestand against the Texas
Rangers/Houston Astros/Minnesota Twins.

So both the Mariners and Rangers fly in with an "off-day"
Thursday. Its been my obsevation that the M's seem to
lose game one of a long homestand more times than not
as I think Seattle is such a relaxing place to return to from
a road trip that you may get too relaxed. So the M's host
the Texas Rangers for a 3-game series and the first of 19
games against this team this season. M's cant do anything
at the plate to help out J.A.Happ who pitched very well as
the M's 5th starter and lose 2-0. Game 2 is King Felix being
King Felix and he has another quality start striking out 12 and
going 7-innings. Fernando Rodney gets back his mojo and
slams the door on Texas in the 9th. Sundays game was one
for the archives as the M's win a 11-10 game in the bottom
of the 9th walk-off single by Nelson Cruz who had a 3-5 day
with his 7th-8th HR's. Nelson Cruz is very happy to be in Seattle.
I mean every swing he takes can go a long ways up and out.
Robinson Cano is one happy camper watching his friend Nelson
"tearing it up" at the plate. Someone mentioned on the radio
that Nelson Cruz is on pace to hit a 108 HR's. Have to say I
sort of gave up on the M's multiple times in Sundays game
but if you stay tuned for the whole game you came away
pretty darn happy. The Houston Astros make a 3-game visit
to Seattle to start the 19 game series with this AL foe. With
the Astros its "can you get Jose Altuve out" or not. AL West
is up for grabs at this point as no team screaming out of the gates
and the M's are 5-7 and 1 game out.

The "AL" Houston Astros..yes its the 3rd year now and Seattle
took the 19-game series 10-9 last 2 yrs which means the Astros
will beat you on any given night. The M's starting pitching except
for King felix and J. Happ has been a real struggle but Iwakuma
and Taiwan Walker both had a win going but the bullpen blew-it
late and the M's drop games 1 and 2. Danny Farquar really had
a couple of bad outings. This Astro club will remind you of playing
the Oakland A's. Above average starting pitching and an enhanced
bullpen to try to get hits off of. Kind of a Billy Bean assembly of
players that can hit .265 or .275 with some RBI's. M's offense
is alive. Nelson Cruz/Robinson Cano/Kyle Seager in the batting
order is coming up big. M's offense is producing like we thought
it would but the starting pitching needs to get better in a hurry.
Fernando Rodney has righted himself as the M's closer after a
couple bad outings. M's salvage a 3-2 win in game 3 at Safeco.
The Houston Astros are a decent enough club and can beat you.
M's travel to Houston on the next road trip to play a 4-game series.
Next up at Safeco Field is a 3-game series with the Minnesota Twins.

The Minnesota Twins come to Safeco for a 3-game series.
King Felix had a no-hitter going through the 6th inning but
had to settle for a complete game 2-0 shutout as it was a
great game to watch as the M's take game one. Game 2 had
James Paxton trying to find it on the mound in his 4th start
but not there yet for James. Bullpen has not been sharp and
Twins take game 2. Game 2 has Elias called up from Tacoma
to be the starter Sunday and pitched great for 5+ and leaves
the game 2-2. Game goes to the 11th inning and Joe Mauer
drives in 2-runs in the top of the 11th and Twinkies come into
Seattle and take the series. M's pitching needs to get much better.
M's offense has half the batting order over .300 and the other
half is hitting below the Mendoza Line. LoMo is on the verge
of becoming a dangerous hitter. Dustin Ackley can get hot.
So not the greatest homestand as the the M's go to 7-11 on
the season. So now its on the road for 3 at Texas Rangers,
4 at Houston, and 3 at LA Angels.

This is kinda fun to pass on my thoughts after every M's series
on the schedule. M's and the Rangers arrived early Monday
morning in Dallas-Ft Worth about 3:30am-4am as both teams
flights had to land someplace else for hour or more while all
hell was happenening at the Dallas-Ft Worth Airport. So neither
team got any sleep for game 1. T-wan Walker pitched like he can
and Fernando Rodney got the save and M's take game 1. Game
2 M's #5 starter JA Happ has his 4th brilliant start and the Rangers
have no answer and Fernando Rodney got the save. Game 3 King
Felix on the mound and the Rangers were able to score 2 runs on
the King but thats how King got his name because he can overcome
that. King Felix dealed his brand of pitching on the Rangers and
dint get much help from homeplate umpire but the M's offense
with the help of Nelson Cruz makes King Felix a winner. Fernando
Rodney comes in to pitch the 9th "3-games in a row". Fernando
Rodney is dialed in. Fernando Rodney is "in" the top 20 relief
pitchers of all time. Rodney shot his "imaginary arrow" towards
Houston said Logan Morrison who usually joins in with Rodney
when he does it. So the M's get the 3-game sweep at Texas which
hasnt been done in a while. Next is a 4-game series at Houston
which is off to a great start and lead the AL West by a wide margin.
The M's have a chance to re-arrange the AL West standings the
next 4 games.

OK now...it appears the Houston Astros are already starting to
feel like they got something for 2015 AL West as they are red hot
taking the 4-game series with visiting M's. Dont think any M's fan
saw this coming but the M's pitching wasnt strong enough and the
Astros got it going going going gone. At this point in time the Astros
have the best record in MLB. So M's head to LA Angels for a 3-game
series so it doesnt get easier. King Felix on the mound for the M's
game 1.

Well " King Felix" put an end to a 4-game skid as he shutdown
the Angels game 1. Games 2 and 3 were walk-off wins in the
9th inning by the Angels..ouch. James Paxton and Elias had
quality starts but the M's bullpen faltered. M's offense is getting
better by the day. Nelson Cruz is a "force". M's made some
big changes today calling up LHP Joe Biemel and RHP Mark Lowe
and sending down Medina and Tyler Olson to Tacoma. M's
also call-up Chris Taylor to spell Brad Miller at SS. Brad Miller
going to learn other positions to play. Brad Miller has a good bat
so the M's want to find a place in the lineup for him. M's fly home
for a 3-game series with the A's on Friday and then SD and Boston
come to visit Safeco.

During the last road trip the M's swept Texas. Now they
sweep the Oakland A's at home. Many good reasons for
it as the M's starters are going 5-6-7 innings and the M's
bullpen is more than back to strength with Tom Wilhelmsen
coming back off the DL. Fernando Rodney pitching "killer".
King Felix pitching on mothers day with the "pink arm sleeves"
and gets his 2000th "K"..4th youngest pitcher to do so.
Felix is 6-0 in 7 starts and he is pitching incredible.
Nelson Cruz hits for average and power continues to add
to his totals every game. M's offense is looking better all
the time. Day off Monday and 2-games with San Diego
Tues-Wed. Then 4-games with Boston in town.
