That the Ms as a team is worn down, is an understatement. Right down to the bullpen! Texas, like Boston, will be tough on 'em. While the 2015 slowly winds down (215-7 games played) and everybody working like the playoffs are tomorrow, the Ms are barely in it.

And ya thought they were better than last season? They sure ain't showing it!

Yes, yes... The Ms escaped Boston with a big W, albeit in 12 inning. And a very close 10-8 score! Phew! Now it's on to Texas and the Rangers. But they may have help. Maybe. Think astron...or that other astro...stuff. Planets. But will it be enough?

Meanwhile, what gives with Hernandez?

10-8 is not close in beisbol. Maybe in banana-shaped ball.

Taijuan Walker gave up a pair of early runs, but Franklin Gutierrez and Kyle Seager pulled the Mariners even with RBIs

Another "VIR" ending to a Mariner game (meaning more frustration)
as Fernando Rodney pitches the bottom of the 9th. First batter bunts
for a hit and the second batter bunts for a hit that Rodney cant field
and so 2-on and nobody out. Rodney walks the bases loaded and walks
in the winning run. If Venus was direct...Rodney would have those bunts
played by the defense and get outs but just the opposite. Rodney can
only blame himself for the walks. Tough times for pitchers as around
the leagues a lot of pitchers having a tough time. King Felix is stuck on
14 as that Pirate pitcher with 14-wins as pitching fortunes can change
with Venus in Retrograde.

Side-note to the M's visit to Fenway Park for a 3-game series.
98 hits, 66 runs. The 98 hits is the most since 1900. M's manager
had to make 14 trips to the bullpen during the 3-games.

To finish the report of how the 3-game visit to Arlington Texas
with every game played in 90 degree+ heat...shit that's what
it was in Boston the last 2-games. So Hisashi Iwakuma gets his
next start following the no-no against Balltimore at Safeco and
"Kuma" had another ultra-quality start... going 7-innings and giving up
2-runs as the M's bullpen actually did good as Danny Farquhar
and Carson Smith pitched the rest and M's take game 2...3-2
on a 2-run HR by Seth Smith in the 1st inning. Iwakuma looking
almost invincible now and the M's need it.
Game 3 played in the 1PM heat at Arlington was only 90 mainly
because T-storm dumped serious rain before gametime. So it's
M's rookie pitcher Mike Montgomery going against Texas starter
Derek Holland just coming off the DL. M's seen Derek Holland alot
over the years and he gets the win again. Montgomery pitches
pretty good considering giving up 6-hits/3-runs over 6-innings.
Bring in Joe Beimel to pitch the 7th inning and so what could be the
worst thing you could imagine for a pitcher to give-up HR's to
3-straight batters and 4-earned runs. Plus to add to Joe Beimel's
Venus in Retrograde experience...he goes on the DL with arm
issues. M's were close at the end until another bullpen meltdown
which is only going to get worser as the M's bullpen once feared
is not anymore. Traded away Mark Lowe, Charlie Furbush..8th
inning specialist...out for the season. Joe Beimel out the rest
of the season. Danny Farquhar is so unpredictable and Carson
Smith and Fernando Rodney. It will be hard to watch the completion
every game on TV. M's home to play the Chicago White Sox
for the first time this year. I can give you a heads up that the
Mariners might lose games 1 and 2.

Snippy thinks that it sounds like there is a possibility that they might win Game 3.

Well I hope so as I will be watching. M's offence has been
very alive during VIR so maybe the "big-guns" in the middle
of the line-up will do so good that the bullpen can save it.

That last roadtrip to Boston and Texas would perfectly describe
Venus in Retrograde misery. It's like you never want to go back
to those 2 towns. Already on the "snide" expecting to turn things
around at Safeco against the Chicago White Sox in a 3-game series.
Well your best hope for a win is on the mound with King Felix and
the "Kings Court is in session". Well Felix has had some bad
experience with VIR so far but pitches pretty good for 6-innings
giving up 4-runs. Well the M's have nada because of White Sox
pitcher Chris Sale goes 7-innings striking out 14 M's. Trumbo hits
a 3-run shot in the 7th to make it 4-3 Sox and maybe the M's
have a chance. Well not really as the M's bullpen wasnt much help.
Rodney pitching the 8th gives up 3-runs only lasting a 1/3rd of
an inning. Newbie Rob Rasmussen comes in and gives up another
run before the nightmare ends as the Sox hang a 4 on the scoreboard.
Oh no...there was more insult to injury as M's reliver David Rollins
gave up a 3-shot to Tyler Flowers to make the final score 11-4.
Game 2 goes to extra innings for the M' for the 20th time this
season. Carson Smith in a save attempt gives up 2-runs in the 9th
to tie the game at 3-3. Bring in Danny Farquhar in the 10th and
he gives up 3-runs to make it 6-3 Sox. M's lose.
Sunday morning and the newspapers have the M's releasing
Rodney for assignment and Danny Farquhar going down to Tacoma
again. I like Fernado Rodney and he put up some good numbers
with the Mariners. Lead the AL in saves in 2014. Got off to a good
start in 2015 with the trademark "shooting the arrow" after every
save. MIR set him back. Then it was he was "tipping" his pitches.
Resolved that and then VIR which it was a drama to watch him
pitch.
So Sunday M's try to win a game in this series. Tiwon Walker
gets the start and goes almost 6-innings giving up 5-runs.
M's have 7-runs at this point as the middle of the M's line-up
Cruz-Cano-Guti are having good days at the plate. M's add
a run late to get a 8-6 victory.
Next in town are the Oakland A's for a 3-game series.

Better idea, and watch real baseball. The World Series (Global) of Little League. Uganda. Yep! Uganda the team from Kampala! Never be disappointed again! Little League IS baseball!

Oakland having a similiar season as the M's as they come to Safeco
for the last time in 2015. Hishashi Iwakuma on a strong run of
pitching performances lately and starts off with 4-innings of one-
hit baseball...then a "derailment" in the 5th as he gives up 7-runs.
Only during VIR or MIR could that happen. M's bullpen gives 4 more
runs for a blow-out win for the A's. Game 2 I dint know what to expect
but a great game to watch. Mike Montgomery has not been great
during this VIR period as he can only go a 1 1/3 innings giving up
7-hits and 5-runs. So the M's down 5-0 early but take the lead in
bottom of the 5th that would stick as Logan Morrison hits a 2-run
shot on his Birthday and Nelson Cruz hits his 38th as the new M's
bullpen with Tom Wilhelmsen as the current closer does his job.
M's win a thriller 6-5 over the A's.
Game 3 at Safeco with King Felix pitching and the "Kings Court"
was vocal as always. The King gives up a solo-shot to A's lead-off
hitter Billy Burns in the 1st but the King is pitching like himself
this game. The King would give another solo shot to Jeb Lowery
but thats it as the King gets another "ultra high quality start"
going 8-innings and 2 runs for his 15th win of the season.
Nelson Cruz hits his 39th and Kyle Seager goes deep as the
M's inflict VIR pain on the A's and win 8-2.
Next its a road-trip to the Chicago White Sox for 4, 3 at Houston,
and 3 at Oakland. Have no idea how this trip will turnout.
Maybe they win every game...if they do that....

Heard it today that the M's traded Fernando Rodney to the Cubs
for cash considerations. Fernando pitched for Joe Maddon at TB
and had great success so maybe Joe sees some value yet in Rodney.
He's pitches great when there is no MIR or VIR and since VIR ends
the Sunday before Labor Day...think Rodney can figure in on the
Cubs playoff chances....in a positive way.

M's fire their GM Jack Z after 7+ years. This happening during
VIR. The 7-year thing is more applicable to one's transiting
Saturn (Saturn takes 28-yrs to make a loop...every 7rs along
the way...life changes.) Jack Z who got noticed by raising the
Milwaukee Brewers to being competetive and came to the M's.
Had 2-winning seasons in 7rs and another losing for sure.
Venus in retrograde may be a time when the "higher-up's
awaken from a sleep and decide they are not happy with
the way things are going and time to shitcan somebody.
Whole new environment for MLB GM's today. M's hoping
to fill the job in 3-weeks.

Still curious about the title of this thread? But no matter... In any case it's probably a matter of numbers anyway. And if you're a fan of baseball, or just enjoy following the escapades of the Ms (the Mariners of Seattle), who happen to be cruising about three or four on the AL-West Division.

Which is about where they finished last year.  In 2013, '12, '11, and the last few seasons as well. Seems they just can't shake that monkey off their backs, no matter what they do. They just fired their GM Jack Zdurceinecik too. Of course it is too late to make a difference there, so what's next? Who knows. Meanwhile the season marches on...

Let's look at the big picture as of last night's aftermath.

The M's visit Chicago White Sox for a 4-game series. US Cellular
Field has not been kind to the M's the last 5-10yrs. Always the
craziest games that end-up late in a loss. So game one at Chicago
had the White Sox wearing "throwback" uniforms. M's recent call-up
from Tacoma Roenis Elias gets the start going 6 1/3rd giving up all
4-runs in this game. Franklin Gutierrez's 2-run blast only runs for the
M's as Carlos Rodon got the win for the White Sox. Game 2 had the
M's get a win on some great pitching by Taijuan Walker and Kyle
Seager and Guti going deep in the 6th inning and that was enough
for a 2-0 win. Game 3 was a wild affair...Iwakuma getting the start
but having some struggles...goes 5 2/3rds giving up 2-runs. Kuma
will win this game but had to wait until the 9th to be sure as the
8th inning was crazy as the White Sox score 4 to make it 7-6 M's.
Tom Wilhelmsen...most recent M's closer...came in to nail down
the save. Game 4 was the best example of VIR as Brad Miller
SS had a routine ground-ball to field which he did but his throw
to first-base was off-line. So instead of the M's winning the game
had the throw been on-line, The M's allow a run to score to make
it 5-5 and go to the 11th inning where the White Sox get the hit
they need. Really should have been M's leaving Chicago with a
3-1 series but it ended up 2-2 split. Think the M's are sick of facing
the White Sox as the schedule had a double-dose a week apart
in late August. M's fly-off to Houston to see what they can do
against the Astros. I can tell you the M's lost game one.
