So further efforts to make the M's catcher a better hitter...just signed Ianetta and
now get catcher Steve Clevenger from Baltimore who can hit for Mark Trumbo and
CJ Riefenhauser a LH reliever I never seen pitch. Mark Trumbo has this thing about
him where I can see him being a player hard to make friends with just cuz he never
smiles. So far I like what new GM Jerry Dipoto is doing this off-season.

So it seems Nori Aoki from the Giants is about to become a Seattle Mariner. Maybe to
keep the M's Japanese interpreter job going and Iwakuma signs back up soon.
M's have had some pretty exceptional Japanese ballplayers over the years.

At almost the same time the M's signing free agent Justin De Fratus a RH reliever
from the Phils for a $750K deal. Never seen him pitch that I can remember.
Then add 1st baseman Andy Wilkins in a waiver claim from Baltimore.
In the meantime M's say goodbye to LH pitcher Edgar Olmos and 4th string catcher
John Hicks to somewhere else. I've never seen so many deals by the M's ever.
The Jerry Dipoto method seems to pick up players after a bad year for next to nothing
in hopes that their bad year was just a fluke and all that talent/promise is going to
return with bells. That's where sports-astrology could tell you that answer.
Spring training 2016 is really going to be interesting for the M's.

Uh-oh...Iwakuma goes for a 3-yr deal from the Dodgers. Maybe just as well as he is
fragile and durable at the same time. Thinking the M's offer of 2-yrs was pretty
good but Iwakuma liked the 3yr deal because he knows that he can make millions
while rehabbing from what ever injuries that lie ahead and I think they lie ahead
for Kuma. So we lose one star Japanese pitcher and gain one star Japanese outfielder.
So the hunt is on trying to find a replacement starter for Iwakuma now. Wish Iwakuma
the best in LA only now he has to hit 2-3 times a game.

So the M's dint wait around long before pulling off a trade for a starting pitcher with Boston
getting Wade Miley and reliever Jonathan Aro for M's reliever Carson Smith and starter
Roenis Elias. This seems a pretty good trade right now. Wade Miley a starting pitcher that
can go 200 innings+.

The Hot Stove League has been really buzzing for M's as they got rid of and replaced the team
in just a few weeks time. Last few deals is getting Adam Lind 1st basemen from the Brewers
for more players in the minors that I never heard of before. Lind has a history of hitting .270-280
which would be 50-60 points higher than the M's had at 1st base in many years. Next the M's
get Evan Scribner RH reliever from the A's. Think Dipotto has done well in acquisitions. Next
we see how all this worksout in spring training 2016.

Interesting are the comments from the sports media about what Jerry Dipoto
has pulled off/done in the last 2-weeks building a winner in Seattle for 2016.
I've never seen such a clean sweep of existing talent for different talent in
one season. Spring training in Peoria March 2016 will be very exciting.
So this is what the M's have for the 2016 season.

Catcher...Chris Ianetta and Steve Clevenger. Mike Zunino going to start at PCL Tacoma
1st base...Adam Lind and Jesus Montero...M's still think Jesus Montero is worth keeping around.
2nd base...Robbie Cano
Shortstop...Ketel Marte played well late season 2015 to think he will really shine at SS in 2016.
3rd base...Kyle Seager
Utility infielders...Chris Taylor, Luis Sardinas, and Shawn O'Malley...like this kid O'Malley.
Outfield...Nori Aoki in LF, Leonys Martin in CF, Nelson Cruz in RF/DH. Seth Smith and "Guti"
back to play the outfield as well. The M's starting rotation has some new names as Kuma
went to the Dodgers. 1 thru 5 looks currently looks like King Felix, Wade Miley, Taijuan Walker,
James Paxton, Nate Karns. Mike Montgomery, Anthony Bass, and Vidal Nuno are waiting in the
wings if starting pitching is needed in a pinch.
The M's bullpen: Charlie Furbush sorta last man standing from the 2015 relievers. Well a few
others are back like Tony Zych which has been added to the MLB record book for having his
name at the very bottom of names. M's at one time had David Aardsma a relief pitcher who
I think is name number one on the list of alphabetical baseball players. Added to the bullpen
are Justin De Fratus, Evan Scribner. Cant wait to see if all this change results in change.
Jerry Dipoto methods of madness makes sense to me.

So when you thought Jerry Dipoto was done he goes out and gets Marlins sidewinder
reliever/closer Steve Cishek. 73 saves over the last 2-seasons. I always wanted to
have a sidewinder pitcher in the bullpen. Charlie Furbush has been that kind of pitcher
delivering pitches from an "angle" that makes hitters uncomfortable. Now the M's got
"2" that can do that. This M's club for 2016 is going to be good/great. Know that's what
everybody thought that the 2015 M's out of the gate were going to win the AL West
and due to a couple of MIR's and a VIR during the season players had some bad season.
Dipoto scoops up these celestial casualties and hope they can do better next time.
We will see if the Dipoto method of building a baseball team can withstand the MIR
periods of the long MLB season.

So a week ago the Dodgers sign Iwakuma to a 3-yr $45million deal. So today the 16-17th of Dec
the Dodgers cancel that deal for whatever reason and now Iwakuma wants his old job back with
the M's and they sign him to a 1-yr deal with options and incentives for more years. Iwakuma a
Mariner until he cant pitch any more but he has a couple good/great years left in him yet and
Kuma just loves having his own interpretuer in the M's dugout. Ichiro started this whole thing
of having a hired employee in the dugout to translate Japanese at all times. M's have had Japanese
players on the team every year since Ichiro's debut. So the M's signing Aoki in the off season
was really looking forward to shooting the Japanese with another and now it will be so.
M's need to get back to what worked for them in their 2014 season having King Felix followed
by Iwakuma. Both born in the sign of Aries and very tough pitchers to face back to back.
Have to say I never saw this coming...Iwakuma back and I know he will pitch like a warrior.
