I had relatives in Kamloops BC so as a kid I made a
few trips with the fam from the States as a camping
trip. Traveling Hiway 1 through the Fraser River Canyon
from Hope to Kamloops your are going to see a dozen
trains minimum on your way. Made several trips up the
Fraser River Canyon in the late 70' and early 80's.
Last was my video tour in 1993 and while that video
has some great moments its not as complete as this
fellow posted on YouTube. All kinds of changes to
Fraser River railroads CP/CN as an agreement was
worked out to basically make the Fraser River Canyon
"joint-track" and trains of each railroad could be running
opposite of normal. The CN has the most level route
and the CP has the most unlevel route. The thing is
neither railroad can send a heavy train east. Its always
a westbound coal train or a grain train or some other
120 car unit train heading for Vancouver or Roberts Bank.
The Fraser River Canyon experience is something I can
still recall vividly in my mind.
If you are in a horror movie, you make bad decisions, its what you do.
