Its pretty incedible how many boxcars still traveling the

nations rails have been "tagged". It not just a "tag"

but almost a new paint job. Has to be disheartening

for the railroads...I mean you send the graffitti boxcar

in for repaint and a month later it looks the same and

so the railroads just have to live with it along with the

shippers. The railroads have little choice to spot empty

boxcars that look like hell to all their customers.

From "Bozo-Texino" in chalk to "10 cans of spray paint"

using a boxcar as your canvas. While I marvel at some

attempts the majority is not entertaining at all. Rolling

stock gets the NY Subway treatment from years past.

The railroads arent going to repaint any boxcars because

they cant repaint their locomotives in the current paint

scheme. Definetly a very visible addtion to watching

a train go by. The graffitti looks to take many hours to

achieve. Sure many would like to spray a can of paint

into the face of a person responsible for the boxcar

graffitti.

Actually, it seems like the only ones upset about railroad car graffiti are the WhistleDicks.

The railroad pays less to keep all that steel covered up and not rusting.

As long as the inside is pristine thats where it counts. Look at just about any covered hopper or tank car. It may be

void of paint and rusted all over the outside, but, look inside and it looks like a brand new car.

Yer everyday run of the mill BOSS is happy as long as he can see the car number on top of the A or B end of the car.

Yer young arty farty vagrant types dont seem to be worried about covering those areas.

Well, there is the poor regular area resident who needs a spraycan of Krylon to finish up a project at home. That poor

basterd winds up paying more for a  can of paint because the stores are "discouraging the graffiti by making it hard for the

artist to afford paint" yea...hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Graffiti was one of my favorite things about being a rail.... not just the art... but all the stuff written in cabs, yard offices, toilet stalls...

Sometimes it ROCKs being easily entertained.... wink

A carman gave me one of those white sticks, ever since I've been noticing all the chalk drawings, some for its pretty funny. I've concluded RRs put more shit on cars than taggers

of North Platte and had a website "fugitivecolor dot net" where
he had all kinds of pictures of boxcar graffitti. Very cool site
