Huge deal for the GPNW and its in the local media bigtime.

Guess we never entertained an event of this magnitude.

Guess whats cool is the BNSF/UP Seattle/Portland joint

double track mainline is on the very west side of the golf

course and one hole of the course is right next to the tracks.

You may have seen pictures of the course in early May where the

whole course was a "dark green"...well add 2-months of

drought and this golf corse is now "golden" or tinder dry.

You would never guess a golf tournement from the GPNW

this time in June would be facing grass dying out but its

the reality. Learning how a major golf tournemnt effects

the local demographics.  I have a better understanding now

how the winner of this event will win $1.5 million. Tickets for

this event sold-out long ago. Minimum ticket price $200 and

higher. Wednesday last exstenive practice time for all

that has never been here before. Have to say I have I'll

be watching more golf that usual this weekend.

My hopeful Tiger Woods shot an 80 day one at Chambers Bay.
Coming into the tournament as the "195th" rated golfer in the
world is quite a drop from number one. Tiger has Friday to get
his act together or maybe drop from the top 200 golfers.
While I dint watch every minute of coverage..dint see a single
train passing. What was more noticable/annoying was a helicopter
hovering above creating a lot of annoying noise if you trying to
concentrate on a golf shot. This tournament is "miked to the max"
to catch all those reactions to bad golf shots that where "fuck"
is the best explanation.

Thanks Snippy for that article. I havent spent steady hours
watching this thing on TV. The step-daughter from AU is
in town. Tiger just displayed that he is going down hill
here in this tournament...but being a Capricorn.. Tiger
could figure things out and be back in a big way. Tiger has
some tuff astro-transits going now of which I could look
into. Capricorn golfers will save their best years for last.

Well I did watch hours of the Saturday golfing at the US Open
at Chambers Bay. What keeps running through my mind as
I watch is how "parched" the landscape/course has become
in the last 2-months as we've no rain to speak of in almost
3-months. I mean a tossed cig butt could set this course ablaze.
Saturdays coverage show more trains passing by and the holes
right next to the tracks. With extreme telephoto the double
track BNSF/UP mainline looked to be real close to the green.
Think Dustin Johnson took a little longer to make his next
shot as a result of a passing freight train. The more I watch
play at Chambers Bay..the US Open Winner is going to be
a specialist for sure as this is this not your everyday golf
course. This course will have atleast one player that figures
it out.

Well I had to share TV time Sunday with the M's 1:10PM
start vs the Astros and the last day of the US Open. Every
end of the inning you flip to the golf. As the M's were looking
to loose this game I spent more time on golf. I think after
watching 4-rounds of golf on this course I became more familiar
with it. A lot of walking uphill for the players inbetween holes.
Apparently the US Open Golf tourney is always held at a golf
course that is "most challenging" and have to say I never seen
golf played with so many "trickles" a golf shot can have. A shot
landed just right could roll up the hill and back to the cup or off
the green into bunker. There might be an hour of video to be had
of golf balls "trickling" for a "long ways" after a shot at this US Open.
I have to agree with some that I never seen "greens" before with
this sort of make-up of grass..blue fescue...and a very partched
blue fescue to where "green" is missing and its like putting on
"textured carpet". So this US Open Golf Tournement at Chambers
Bay WA had a very dramatic ending to where the 4-day tournement
wasnt decided until the last second..when Dustin Johnson "3-putted"
the 18th. Unbelievable. Jordan Spieth wins the Masters and now the
US Open. I had to look up this young mans astro chart and he's a
Leo with a Moon conjunct Pluto in Scorpio and his outer planets transits
are in good shape for more success this year. It was great that the
GPNW got to draw all the best golfers in town for a weekend and I
think it went well.

I notice watching golf and NASCAR that they never get into
the "money" that is won after a race or 72-holes. Now a
NASCAR race driver that wins certainly cant keep all the
winninings because the huge effort to field a car that can
win a race. A golfer has a caddy and a coach...so a golfer
stands a real chance to rake in the millions when things are
going good. Jordan Spieth won $1.8 million...the 3-putt by
Dustin Johnson cost him a million dollars but still comes
away tied for 2nd place and a $877k payday which is a lot
of money. Phil Mickelson won $24k and finished 9th from last
shooting a "293" compared to Jordan Spieth's "275". Tiger
is hoping to rebound for a good showing at the British Open...
the same tournament that Jordan Spieth want to win next.
