So NS being a "Big Four" railroad in 2016...so do they seek to conquer something to add
to the system. Its seems the "Big Four" are content to be that today. The KCS is still
out there with some prospectus but no takers. Looked promising for all the major carriers
when the oil train boom hit and now less of them. Coal trains going to be less in numbers.

It's going to be tough times for the rails if they don't capture trucking. Congestion relief and public policy disincentives to trucking's free ride would help, but the horrendous management of the railroads will put them right back to the '60s and '70s despite the tens of billions of dollars they've spent building up the infrastructure.
Management can't get away from the old and slow and one mo' (car) mentality. Then, add to that the foolish crooked cop testing games. It ain't about safety, it's about failures.
Heartland Corridor, Meridian Speedway, Crescent Corridor, all corridors of entrapment and trickery, it's all about who they can get, not what they can move. Compete with truckers? Despite Cy's onetime posts of trains lined up from beginning to end, Cy knew that was never going to happen and suspects it's worse now.
