A sunny chilly chemtrail filled sky New Years Day and had to take some train pictures and

only came back with 65 pictures. Took a lot sorting out and came up with 10 pictures that

pretty much describes the day. It was great to catch a couple of freshly repainted ex-ATSF

SD-75M's 253-255 in the latest "BNSF Swoosh". Caught the "EVELVJ" (Everett-Long View Jct)

at PA Jct coming up the Sealine to the Scenic Sub Mainline. This slow move with a heavy load

and the big GE's are perfect for the job. Then a trip to the sunny side of Everett and Bayside Yard.

Trains parked on all tracks. A dead BNSF 5425 North pulled up to MP 36 and sitting in unbelievable

sunlight. The 3rd unit CN 2281 sure looks like its on the ground but it isn't. Then the CREX 1303 North

coal train leaving Bayside in unbelievable sunlight. That last picture of CREX 1303 North in full wide-angle

turned out real good. Railroad pictures taken on New Years day will always be railroad history too.

69 days later is when the next sunny weekend happened in Everett. Brutal gray winter
but this weekend a "gift" weatherwise with sunny skies and 70F. Made it out both Sat-Sun
and went where the trains were. Lowell was great place to start Saturday as a WB Z-train
meets a EB Vehicle train. The CP DPU on the vehicle train departing was belching out quite
a cloud. Sunday went to Lowell again to catch WB Q-train with the Boeing cargo passing by
EB stack. An EB mty coal arrives for a "side-by-side" with the EB stack. Everett is one of those
places where you get great views of Mt Baker and Mt Rainer just have to turn your head one way
or another. Mt Baker would be the volcano I grew up next to or "my mountain". So I found a
view of Mt Baker from Everett and with a telephoto lens it looks pretty "grand". I think I can
find a place "without the wires" in my next update. I think its still holding in there (Mt Baker)
as the mountain with the most snow this winter in all of north america. Then the SPOEVE arrives
at Delta Yard with 5-bigs on the point. Then a new engine for me BNSF 136 a freshly repainted/
rebuilt ATSF GP60. Now known as a GP60M-3. Good to be out and about again.

The weather Saturday March 17th was partly cloudy with a NW wind and 55F.
So it was sunny at my place when I started out only to find a big cloud over Everett
when I got there. Take some pictures anyway. So first train is an empty coal coming
across my last place of employment BR37 southward down Rogers Main. Then I met the
train again on the Lowell Running track to Lowell. It took me a while to notice the 3rd
unit was "BNSF 7777" and then I snapped a few extras. That has to be a good sign seeing
a locomotive with 7777. In numerology 7+7+7+7 =28 2+8=10 1+0=1. Then a meet at
Lowell with a WB Z-train at ground level. Finally at Bayside yard was this single unit parked
and another new unit I haven't seen a freshly painted BNSF SD-40-2. The re-numbering of
the SD-40-2's seems never ending. Still a very useful locomotive. Sunday's weather not so
sunny so maybe this is it for the weekend.

Nope. They had them on the real oh-riginal Norfolk Southern.

Had an edict from on high that there was to be absolutely no overtime on a certain job. It was because of the overtime they made the day before, so the regular crew marked off. One of our not-so-illustrious engineers called in to inform the yardmaster that the engine had derailed and then rerailed itself going into a siding and that now the track was not lined up properly. They made five hours of overtime. It was a spring frog that he had simply never noticed in action in his 20 or so not-so-illustrous years of railroading.

They also had them on the fake B&O Winchester-Mecca (ROKE) line that is somewhat south of you in VAgina. B&O did everything but lay the rails on it. Southren laid rails from Strasburg to Harrisonburg. Red Team laid rails from Harrisonburg to Staunton as part of their scab management railroad, Chesapeake Western. You can see stone arch bridge and grade where it never ever had rail laid down south of Staunton (Stantun - one syllable) on I-81.

I've seen that bridge and I must protest, I don't think the Red Team acquired the Chesapeake Western until something like 1954. H. H. Rogers, who built the Virginian, had something to do with that line's origination. You know about the Virginian, Snippy, didn't some of your favorite Snippylvanian Terminal guys come from there?

Another trip into Everett on March 31th and nothing to remarkable except another 3-wide
of BNSF northbounds with nothing in the way at Bayside. I thought I had more pictures of
3-wide at Bayside maybe because I seen it so many times but there is usually "something
in the way". Its sort of how the flow of traffic arrives from the south (Seattle/Auburn/Tacoma)
going north out of Everett. The "K-Crews" do all the shuttle work through the Seattle gauntlet
and northbounds arrive by the 3's and sometimes 4's. Bayside yard used to be a setout/pick
yard with storage boxcars for Scott Paper with a yardmaster and switch jobs. Delta Yardmaster
answers the radio for trains routed to Bayside and the usual 301 or 302 and "stagger the power"
from the other train and tie it down. So all this to dig through my 3-wide collection and all the
great moments at Lowell with AMTK Empire Builder making it "3-wide" at Lowell. I though I had
3-wide at the north end of Delta Yard but cant find it. When you got 3 trains wide ready to go
at any time means business is good.

All kinds of reasons for no new pictures the last couple months. Mainly its getting my garden
growing time and I have to settle for train whistles in the distance. While I've mentioned many
times I want to get my videos on YouTube as I'm rich with BN action on the Scenic Subdivn
and sorry to say no progress on that. In the meantime just released the last day or so a very
nice video on the Scenic and Columbia River Subdivs taken mid-June 2018. Pretty impressive
video and give it an A- because he called an empty oil train a empty ethanol train at Baring WA.
Thats OK he did the same thing on the BNSF Seattle to Portland video. No ethanol in these parts
only Bakken Crude. Would love to own the video camera he has as the zoom is extraordinary.

I've been really wanting to get more BNSF pictures in Everett since March but the Jetta
was not running good and getting my garden going and on and on. Good news the Jetta
is running like a top but can I psych myself up to "battle weekend traffic" to get to where
I want to go. Then its my ankle not working as intended. Or the celestial aspects for the
day are harsh and best pass on this chance. More pictures coming soon.

So "I heard it through the grapevine" or over BNSF radio waves out of Everett about the
"new crew re-structuring" that has the Seattle to Wenatchee trains crews originating now
in Everett. The "K-crews" run stack trains from Tacoma and South Seattle for Chicago to
Everett and a new crew "based in Everett" takes the train to Wenatchee. There are other
trains that originate in Seattle going east would have same deal. Everett now crew base for
trains going north/east/south. This "K-crew" thing has to be an adventurous job running
the gauntlet between Tacoma/Auburn to Everett with just about every train their is.
No train you can call your own and if time allows you take a train back to where you started
or a long-haul crew hauler. BNSF busiest its ever been in the GPNW and trains dying because
of congestion you got to have a plan and so shortening up the starting point to Everett from
Seattle and so you got 12hrs to go 122 miles over Stevens Pass and the Cascade Tunnel and
its 1-train an hour rate. Next thing I heard over the radio was that there is a "planner" for the
BNSF on lines eminating from Everett as you got the Scenic Sub/Cascade Tunnel single track CTC
with capacity for 24 trains a day and Bellingham Sub single track CTC which is seeing 24 trains a day.
It needs planning. So how this is going to help me listening to the BNSF airwaves is every train
passing through Everett now will stop for a crew change. A train stopped is easy to photograph.
