MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay -- MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay (AP) Uruguay's drug czar says the country plans to sell legal marijuana for $1 per gram, though he's given higher figures in the past.
A law already passed in the lower house of Congress and expected to pass in the Senate later this year would make Uruguay the first country in the world to license and enforce rules for the production, distribution and sale of marijuana for adult consumers.
The El Pais newspaper reported Sunday that drug chief Julio Calzada says marijuana sales should start in the second half of 2014 at a price of $1.
He says the idea isn't to make money, but to wrench the market away from illegal dealers. Calzada said in August that the price would be around $2.5 per gram.
Nobody here is going to move to Uruguay.
I think you can see where the whole MJ scene
is going in North America. Trying to get it legalized
but this is a huge can of worms. I dont know how
a standard can be established. You can take
everybodies expiences buying off the street/friends
that's been going on for 50 years and its worked
pretty good except some ended up in jail. The only
way the govt/law can really know how to sort out
this problem is to be experts at weed and getting high.
We may have govt jobs availble in the near future
for just that job. To attach a $-figure to weed.
Most consumers "know" when they got some "nugs"
of dynamite after one hit. So this is going to be one
"interesting transformation"...if the underground
wants to. What's the big dividing line now is "taxes".
MJ to be sold in shops to open in the near future
will have a "British Tax Rate" meaning "excessive".
A pound of "unbelievable" will get paid maybe $2400
from the despensory and no tax levied. But that pot
gets resold with about $100 bucks tax on an oz.
No sure how many will be in line to buy an oz at $350
when the underground is still cranking out "unbelievable"
at $200 an oz.

They should just extract the THC out and sell it to burn in those e-cigarettes.
eliminate all the bulk of carrying actual maryj around. Hell, slip a small vial of
whatever in yer pocket. probably enuff for a week...why carry a bale around?
