An interesting topic, but the article is about peoples fear of snakes, not interesting. I've seen three in WV and that was on a perfect day. They are hard to find.
I wonder what will happen when they wipe out all the squirrels and chipmunks and then starve to death.

fascinating. a much maligned species.
If you leave them alone, they will leave you alone.
I never heard of the Timber Rattlesnake sub species.
Rattlers can be found in Canada, in areas of the West.
Prairie rattlers, I just learned.

Something to be said about being an advanced incarnate is that I was born into a
family that lived where no poisonous snakes could ever inhabit. I kina think that
my experienced soul was needing a life without thinking about poisonous snakes...
in my backyard.

One time two guys went camping and while they were hiking out into the woods
one got bit by rattlesnake right on his dork. So his buddy runs back to town and
asks for help and the Doctor tells him " You have to take your sharp knife and slice a
little X right where the bite is and suck all the poison out and spit it out on the ground".
"Oh". The guy heads back out and his suffering chum asks " what'd they say" ?
"Well" he shook his head sadly, "Doctor said for sure you are gonna die"

Now you have permission to think about 'em! All the time tu! If rattlers can withstand the vagaries of climates across North, and South America, why not the GPNW? Considering the 'winter' we've had of late...

Just being a Garter Snake is no guarantee your going to make it through winter in the GPNW.
