...just a few more pics to satisfy Phreddie's curiosity. The dust has given me a cough. It's hard to avoid lately. Perhaps a good old fashioned thunder storm would clear the air, and settle the dust. Alas, we know that ain't happening any time soon!

Looks like a water/sewer installation.
Takes about a year.

The overwhelming stench of tar in the air was the rude alarm this AM... Yep! They started down one lane. Base for the fine top-coat. Then the final work...

In a few days, a road like that will be calling out to be rode on.

So I pack my "car-sick bag" and made the trip to see where all the fucking noise was coming from the last 6-7 months. Jeebus Crike when I first saw it I thought it was an "open pit mine". This project to build a "kindegarden skoolen" required making a heavely forested "hill" "flat-topped". And then I'm still cant figure out what sort of nightmare landscaping this "bowl of clay" is going to look like in the end. Destruction maximus has taken place behind my maximum height Cottonwoods. I would estimate atleast a half dozen Cats with GPS at once for months to do this amount destruction. I can verify the noise. Today it was just one Cat utilizing "GPS" to keep the project going and that's enough to keep the noise streak going. What a sight this is. You drive down the road and its trees on both sides and then its this. This is major destruction. Be glad when its finished. Then when its finished add another dozen skoolen buses to all the local streets.
The bicycle is on the list Snippy. Been walking almost every other day, with NO serious pain... Just a bit of soreness afterwards, and next morning of course. Been doing about 5+ miles on the walks. The bike IS ready ta ride as well!

Spin it 75-90 rpm.
Don't mash it.
That's what the damned gears are for.
You know this.
Just shift.
Just ride.

This morning the 'beep, beep, beep...' started jut before 0700. The overwhelming, choking odor of tar as 'they' continue laying the base coat of asphalt down. The closest lane to the apt. bldg. is now lain, and the hear coming off... Well that shit is hot!
A UPS driver told me he came in from the park (unpaved as yet) side, to make a few deliveries, that the paving sup said most ot 'it' should be finished by tomorrow. hah... There's so much more they haven't even graded off yet! They aren't close to finishing. Just a guess on his part. And perhaps more optimism than is warranted right now! IUHO...

The lanes that were paved lead off to the right, and curve off to join a previously 'dead-end' street adjacent to the big Safeway supermarket. That road, Airport Rd. heads north, where it runs into state hwy. 34, which runs directly into Corvallis. A by-pass just before Corvallis intersects eventually with US Hwy. 20, which heads west to the coast. US 2o crosses the entire country, west/east from/to Newport, Oregon. It terminates, eventually in Albany, NY!
But that little area that remains unfinished, and unpaved in the neighborhood seems to have been ignored for now. When, if ever they'll pave it is an open question. That open wound festers, along with the neighbors tempers! This little town has a lot of explainin' ta do. That square block surrounds the heretofore remnants of a small park!
This town has a bit of explaining to do. Soon!

Route 20, Cy drove on portions of Route 20 many times, as it passes through the Belletucky area and also another town in the area where Cy once resided for a couple of years.

US 20 is the longest road in Real Murica. Probably a cruise road for PhMB whilst he looks for trees. It also has a unique weirdness wherein it sports an east-west number, but runs south of US 30 from Idaho through Orgun to Ukeylvania. I mean ***ylvania.
It also is a road in Jellystone where Summiteers probably ventured.
