CHICAGO - Chicago police say two officers investigating a shots-fired call on the city's far South Side have died after being struck by a train.
Police spokeswoman Michelle Tannehill confirmed the deaths Monday night but said she had no additional details to release. She did not identify the officers.
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi posted on Twitter that the "devastating tragedy" occurred when the officers were investigating a shots-fired call.
Local media reported that the officers were struck about 6:20 p.m. Monday by a train operated by the South Shore commuter rail line that links northern Indiana and Chicago.

Two Chicago police officers who were struck and killed by a South Shore train didn't see it approaching as they kept an eye on an approaching Metra train, officials say.
Based largely on recovered bodycam footage, police released new details Tuesday about the deaths of Officers Eduardo Marmolejo, 36, and Conrad Gary, 31.
They are the third and fourth Chicago police officers to die in the line of duty this year.

"Snippy" was lucky enough tu literally have two bounces.
One was on one of those Honda 3-wheeler ATVs with bouncy tyres vs the long hood of a U23B. The thing bounced like it was a Flubbermobile.
The other was a Mom in a a Chevy Bluto Wagon (79 era Bluto) full of kids that evidently got its first direct strike from the 'where the footboard used to be" part of of the GP30 pilot sheet right on the front tyre. It didn't bounce bounce, it looked like it had been repelled by a force field. Much relief tu all. Both in Manassas.
Another on foot around Manassas didn't bounce.
