A week later Tuesday March 24th and a mental need to go to the store. The Jetta hasn't moved from the garage since
last Tuesday. The original mission/goal was to get some whole body chickens and ground turkey...see if I could be lucky.
Just grabbed a hand basket in the store because I wasn't expecting a "windfall". Went right to where chicken and ground turkey
is and....there was 2 whole body chickens fresh good for a week. The last 2 in the store. Even better was a
"selection" of ground turkey with dates going into April. Grabbed 2 of those. I was so happy. Then the other thing was some
"red-star yeast". I talked to my sister on the phone from up Bham way and she said that "flour" is gone/sold out. I never
seen that before. Sure enough all the flour and sugar "gone" at my store too. Good thing I make CCBB so often as I always
have extra flour and sugar in the pantry. The yeast selection has gone through some demand too as what was left wasn't the
type I use. People making their own bread...what a novel idea. Picked up some bananas and more vodka. The 24-hour store
is closed from 10pm-6am now and some plexi-glass shields protecting the checker at the checkout stand. That's new.
Maybe 50 shoppers in the store. Next a trip to Ace Hardware to pickup more birdseed and black oil sunflower seeds. They
got the best prices for huge bags and the birds/squirrels love the Ace brand. So wheeling my mini-buggy to the checkstand
and they got blue tape on the floor 6ft apart for a ways so customers can maintain the 6ft mandated distance. Of course
I was behind 5 customers 30ft from the checkstand. It dint take too long and homeward bound with my bounty. Good feeling
to go shopping again and the things you usually buy are there/in stock again. Think I'm good for another 7-10 days without
the need to risk my life going grocery shopping.

Had I grabbed an extra 5lb bag of red potatoes last time I could have stretched time needing to go to store.
So I am stocked up on many things. Thursday April 2th and time to see if any changes/what changes at my
mega-mart. You need to read whatever signs are posted as this "social distancing" easily forgotten grocery
shopping. I never gave it a thought as I pushed my cart around the store. Light crowd very similar to a
Thursday afternoon "before it got weird". Bananas keep selling at a brisk rate but found a nice green bunch for
next CCBB. Vegggies/fruits look to be plentiful. But the meats can still be hit or miss. Found my ground turkey
and I mentioned 2-weeks ago that only chicken in the store were these organic air-chilled whole body chickens
selling for $17-19 a piece and no takers. I noticed they re-stickered these chickens with $1.99lb prices and
a great price but need to freeze or use soon. I bought 2. The number one on my shopping list was "Red Star active yeast"
and the first "UH-OH" of the day was there was no yeast of any kind in the 3ft blank shelf space. In 20 years of making
homemade bread I've never encountered "no yeast". No yeast or flour or sugar to buy shelves empty going on 2+weeks.
Ketchup out of stock. My first trip through the "bung fodder" isle looking for maybe a roll or two of paper towels.
Nothing but bare shelves. This shortage continues on. I'm still +12 rolls of TP but last roll of paper towels. Satisfied
with my selections I head to checkout stand where you need to read signs. New rule is you don't unload your cart of
stuff on the black belt until the customer in front is done with transaction. Old days you could have 2-3 customers stuff
separated by the "bar". Thankfully a cash register malfunction took me next door to a fresh cash register and no fresh
germs to be in. Next was a visit to a Cigar Store to get more smokes and the second "UH-OH" of the day as it was shut.
The other Cigar Store in town was open so that was good. All the bottle shoppes open in whatever form they are today.
So to re-cap 3+weeks into this big change to grocery shopping. Everything you go to store to get may not be there for
the first time in your life. This is taking more time to fix.

Things have calmed down here in the stores for the most part. There are some short products and limits on all cleaning products and sale items. There are some weird items sold out, like dish washer soap(took me a week to get some), hand cream (all the hand washing i guess). Prices have gone up, now is that due to the economy or the fact a lot of retailers are paying staff a shift premium or danger pay, I don't know?
All i want to know is once the ice melts, can i go fishing?

I mentioned the Mars square Uranus aspect now/all week and I read a headline that says "don't go grocery shopping next 2-weeks".
So what does that mean exactly. Think its a peak time for the only thing the population can do outside their home is get groceries.
Not exactly sure when they issue such orders as this presuming the whole population has a bulging pantry and freezer and prepared.
Think I've spent nearing a $1000 trying to stock-up on things in the last couple weeks just to take care of me. I admit to having
some vices that need to be stocked up as well which is very spendy. But on the food side of things trying to accumulate enough
chicken/ground turkey has taken 4 trips to the store since all this began to actually find it and buy it. So Sunday with the "warning"
in my head needed to make another run to try to find things not available before. 2nd time I grab a hand basket going into the store
thinking I'm only going to find so much. I was wrong in minutes as I traded the hand basket for a cart. First "UH-OH" was all the
bin coffee beans gone. Same for all the bins of nuts and candies. No "U-serve" with these items due to the virus. All that was on the
shelves was "ground" coffee packages. Grabbed one of those I never tried before. Still no yeast or flour or sugar but 1 package of
organic cane juice remained and snagged it. The bung-fodder isle did have something on the shelves this time as I snagged the last
6-pak of Brawny paper towels. TP was available in 4-packs one to a customer but supply not much left. Satisfied with my current
supply of food and extras it was to make sure I got 2-weeks worth of peanuts/critter crunch/birdseed and "Ace is the Place".
I done what I can to not attempt grocery shopping next 2-weeks. It took some serious thinking/doing and bucks.

steamer, you may go fishin'. "Snippy" gives you permission. "Snippy" wishes he had taken a picture of the neighbors with boats lined up on Saturday. The gov'ner said they could.

Allegedly, the next two weeks are 'peak weeks' for "Snippylvania", although I think it may be a little early if the IHME models are correct. I guess, give it the 14-day incubation period and they could be spot-on.
