Man slain in airport hotel parking lot
By Inquirer Staff
Police are investigating the shooting death of a man in the parking lot of an airport hotel early today.
Authorities say gunfire erupted about 1 a.m. in the lot at the Marriott Residence Inn at 4630 Island Ave. near Philadelphia International Airport.
Details are sketchy, but police say the victim, who was in his 20s, was found near a car with an open trunk.
City police yesterday were investigating a slew of violent crimes that sent six men to the hospital, investigators said.
About 4:10 p.m. a 43-year-old man was robbed and shot in West Philadelphia, police said.
According to Lt. John Walker, of Southwest Detectives, the victim was walking down the street when the assailant approached him and said, "Give me all your money," Walker said.
"The victim gave him his watch and chain," Walker said.
The victim then tried to reach for the robber's gun and was shot in the toe.
He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition.
About 2:30 p.m., police who had been summoned to 54th and Race streets in West Philadelphia found an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his hip.
He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition.
Shortly before 2 p.m., police who had been called to Somerset Stret near 19th in North Philadelphia found a 28-year-old man who had been stabbed in the buttocks. He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.
Investigators were also looking into a shooting and a double stabbing Tuesday night.
In the double stabbing, police said, a 36-year-old man was knifed in the stomach and right leg and a 21-year-old man was knifed in the chest about 11:52 p.m. at Elmwood Avenue and Carroll Street in Southwest Philadelphia. Both were taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The former was in critical condition and the latter was stable, police said.
About the same time in North Philadelphia a 40-year-old man was shot once in the head on Bailey Street near Somerset. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition, police said.
Anyone with any information on any of the incidents should call the citywide tip line at 215-686-TIPS.

Not exactly murders ya know? We're talkin' murder, as in dead. Cold, stone deceased. Nobody really cares about the method. Just the outcome see?

What Philly needs right about now is a suicide bomber ta run the numbers up. Three days left Troll. The clock is ticking towards 2010...
BurningJournaldotcom has just revised its forecast by three. earlier we told Phreddie our money was on six. Nine is our magic number. Any murders occuring after New Years Eve, say 2401...will be null and void. And count towards 2010.
Thank you, the staff
