Man stabbed during argument dies in front of family
A 29-year-old man was killed in front of his family late Tuesday, stabbed several times in the neck and head, police said yesterday.
The incident began with an argument about 11:15 p.m. on Orleans Street near Frankford Avenue in Kensington, said Homicide Capt. James Clark.
By the time police arrived, Edward Mulvehill lay outside his home with multiple stab wounds, Clark said.
"There was some type of fight between several different individuals," Clark said, declining to comment on the nature of the argument.
Some of Mulvehill's relatives witnessed the fight, Clark said. They could not be reached for comment yesterday.
Mulvehill was pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital at 11:53 p.m.
Last night, the only remnant of the crime on Orleans Street was some stray crime-scene tape.
Several neighbors declined to comment on the case.
"It's unfortunate that he was killed in front of his family members," Clark said.
"But we're pretty confident an arrest is imminent and that the person responsible will be charged."

Domestic Violence Turns Deadly In Rhawnhurst
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3)
A Philadelphia high school teacher is in critical condition following an attempted murder-suicide outside a Northeast Philadelphia apartment complex Friday morning.
Officers were called to the Meadowview Apartments in the 8100 block of Algon Street in Rhawnhurst after reports of gunfire shortly before 7 a.m.
According to police, 23-year-old Bexis Matos was leaving for work when she was confronted by her ex-boyfriend, Lenin Valdez, with a gun.
"She turns to run away, he takes a shot at her and misses. He catches up to her, places the gun directly into her face and pulls the trigger," Captain Jack McGinnis explained.
Investigators said Valdez then turned the gun on himself and took his own life.
Matos was rushed to Aria Torresdale Hospital where she is listed in critical condition.
Capt. McGinnis said Matos had filed previous complaints against Valdez including a protection from abuse order on January 20.
"Two days ago, he was served with a protection order that she got against him. So apparently he must have been harassing her," Capt. McGinnis said.
Police theorize the protection order may have fueled Valdez's rage.
The incident remains under investigation.
