I was getting worried. We would need a few Lex St. massacres to catch up.

Two unidentified men were killed in separate shootings in North Philadelphia last night. Shortly before 6 p.m., police said, a man in his early 20s was gunned down on Dauphin Street near 27th. The victim died shortly after.
About 9:30 p.m., a 19-year-old man was found fatally shot inside a house on 29th Street near Oakdale, police said.
A Homicide Unit investigator said police had no suspects and little information in either case. Anyone with information on either case can call 215-686-3334 or -3335.
As one person put it yesterday, Pete Hopkins always seems to find himself in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Two years ago, he was among three shooting suspects who were beaten by a group of Philadelphia police officers while a Fox 29 helicopter filmed the fracas from above. The videotaped incident generated international controversy.
On Monday night, Hopkins was one of four people in North Philadelphia who were shot by street thugs who decided to go blasting in the rain.
Police said Hopkins, 21, was shot in the stomach and critically wounded, and a 19-year-old man was shot in the groin, shortly before 9 p.m. on Judson Street near Norris. Two other men were shot and killed that night in separate incidents.
The shootings had a common thread: a general lack of witnesses or information about the triggermen.
"No one saw anything," sighed Sgt. James DeAngelo of Central Detectives. "Everyone said they were inside."
The bloodshed began about 5:30 p.m., when cops responding to a call about a man with a gun found Alexander Evans, 23, dead in a vacant lot on Dauphin Street near 27th, said police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore.
Evans, of French Street near Susquehanna Avenue, had been shot in the head and chest. Vanore said investigators were looking into the possibility that Evans had been robbed.
At 8:53 p.m., police were called to a property on 29th Street near Oakdale, where they found Shareef Flemming, 20, laid out on a second-floor hallway with gunshot wounds to his chest and back, Vanore said.
Flemming, who lived in the property, died shortly after at Temple University Hospital. Vanore said investigators had no suspects in the case.
About the time that officers were responding to the fatal shooting of Flemming, investigators said, Hopkins and his 19-year-old acquaintance were gunned down on Judson Street.
Both were admitted to Temple University Hospital. Hopkins was listed in critical condition last night. The other man, whose name was not released, was in stable condition, police said.
DeAngelo said that eight 9mm shell casings had been found at the scene but that it was unclear if more than one gunman had been involved.
Both victims told police that they were walking to a corner store when the shots rang out.
DeAngelo said detectives believe that the shooting was the result of an altercation tied to ongoing neighborhood tensions, including a shoot-out Sunday morning on Diamond Street near 23rd.
In that incident, a 24-year-old woman who lives on nearby Judson Street was struck in the arm by a stray bullet, he noted.
The shootings appear to be connected, DeAngelo noted. "We believe it's the same two groups of individuals who are at war over the sale of marijuana in the area," he said.
Word of Hopkins' injury spread quickly.
"It seems like he keeps being a victim," said attorney Jack McMahon, whose law firm represented Hopkins after he and two other men, Dwayne Dyches and Brian Hall, were involved in the videotaped encounter on May 5, 2008. They were later cleared of wrongdoing.
"Pete hasn't had the best of luck, but hopefully he gets through this and can move on," McMahon added.
