Man passes driver's test, crashes into license exam center

Moments after he passed his driver's test, a man crashed his car into the glass doors of the license exam center in Collier, Pa., his startled instructor still in the passenger seat.
The car skidded clear into the building, where about 10 customers were seated in a waiting area.
Police said the man, in his 30s, had pulled into a parking space outside the Drivers License Center Wednesday afternoon after taking the test in Collier, a township southwest of Pittsburgh.
"He thought he had (the car) in park but he didn't," Collier police Sgt. Brian Halbleib said, and the car jumped the curb when he took his foot off the brake. "He panicked and hit the accelerator and went through the front."
Stunned customers screamed and called 911, witnesses said. Long skid marks were still visible Wednesday night, as clean-up crews assembled new glass windows and doors.
"It was pretty crazy," said 18-year-old Tyler Cherilla, of Imperial, Pa., who was among those waiting to get his license. "I turned around and it had just plowed right into the front."
Four people suffered only minor injuries. Neither the driver nor his instructor was hurt, said Halbleib, who wouldn't identify them.
Both men were "shaken up quite a bit," Halbleib said. As for the driver, "he just kept apologizing. He didn't mean to do it. Right now, we're ruling it an accident."

NEWARK, Del. (AP) Police in Delaware say a man charged with robbing a Newark motel three times in December has struck again at the same motel.
Delaware State Police said Monday that 38-year-old Daniel Prouse of New Castle is being charged with robbery and with violating the terms of his release after he robbed the Comfort Suites in Newark on Sunday. Prouse had already been charged with robbing the motel on Dec. 9, Dec. 12 and Dec. 20.
Police say Prouse arrived at the motel on Sunday just before 10 p.m. and demanded money from a clerk behind the motels counter. A trooper patrolling the area later saw Prouse, who matched the description of the robber. When the officer conducted a search, a bag of money was located in Prouses pocket.

Next time I am in DC, I will look for him on the wall. I need to go visit my squadron mates in Arlington, I figure in September.

After the first trip ta 'the wall,' back in 1990, or so...I thought about visiting again. These days, I'm less inclined ta travel that far east! Washington, DC, not a nice place.
