Woman's Body Found Floating In Delaware River
WEST DEPTFORD, N.J. (CBS 3)
Authorities are seeking help from the public identifying the body of a woman found floating in the Delaware River.
Investigators say the woman's body was found by children Sunday on the Delaware River bank near RiverWinds Drive in West Deptford Township's RiverWinds recreation complex.
The unidentified Caucasian woman, whose body is believed to have been in the water for "some time," is described being in her as mid-60s, with brown-blond hair, five-feet eight inches in height and weighing 197 pounds. She was wearing size 18 Eddie Bauer jeans, a cotton knit sweater with a long-sleeve three-button blouse under the sweater and size-10 New Balance 474 athletic shoes.
Police ask anyone with information about a missing person matching the woman's description to contact either Inv. John Chambers of the West Deptford PD at (856) 625-7439 or (856) 853-4599, ext 168; Det. Robert Hemphill of the GCPO major crimes unit at (856) 384-5500 or Sgt. Jack Donegan of the New Jersey State Police missing persons unit at (609) 882-2000, ext 2554.
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) Police are searching for a group of suspects involved in a double shooting in North Philadelphia early Monday morning.
Officers were called to the 2400 block of N. Marston Street after reports of gunfire at about 1:15 a.m.
Two males in their late 20s to mid 30s were found at the scene, each suffering gunshot wounds to the stomach. Both victims were rushed to Temple University Hospital where they remain in stable condition.
Three suspects were reportedly involved in the shooting, but police said the victims are not cooperating with the investigation.
No arrests have been made and a motive for the violent incident is unknown.
Two men were killed and two critically hurt in three violent incidents over the weekend in Philadelphia:
* Police were called to Rugby Street near Mohican, in the city's West Oak Lane section, at 8:11 p.m. Friday based on reports of a shooting.
At the scene, police found Quan Harper, 18, of East Washington Lane near 76th Avenue, on the street with gunshot wounds to his torso, said Officer Christine O'Brien, police spokeswoman.
On the steps of a nearby house, police found a second man, 23, who had been shot twice in the back, O'Brien said.
Both men were rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where Harper died at 2:55 p.m. Saturday, police said.
The other man, whom police did not identify, remained in critical condition yesterday.
Homicide Sgt. Bob Wilkins said that the shootings are believed to have stemmed from a gunfight involving two or more people. He said that it was unclear whether Harper and the other man were shooting at each other, or if the gunfight involved others who fled the scene.
Two handguns were recovered from the roadway, Wilkins said.
According to online court records, Harper was to have a preliminary hearing in May on attempted murder, firearms and related charges for a September 2008 case. He was free on 10 percent of $150,000 bail.
* At 9:41 Saturday night, police responded to a radio call reporting a person with a gun on Smedley Street near Tioga, in the city's Tioga-Nicetown section, Wilkins said.
Upon arrival, police found Calvin Logan, 23, of 31st Street near Huntingdon, with a gunshot wound to the left side of his left back, Wilkins said.
Logan was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:09 p.m.
Homicide detectives, who believe robbery was the motive for the shooting, are seeking suspects in the case, Wilkins said.
* Northeast Detectives are also seeking a suspect in a stabbing that occurred about 3:25 a.m. yesterday in the city's Frankford section.
A 21-year-old man, whose identity was withheld by police, was found in the street with a stab wound to his stomach.
He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, O'Brien said.

Mother Slain In Front Of Young Daughter
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) Philadelphia Police are investigating a shocking murder-suicide that occurred in broad daylight in the West Oak Lane section of the city Tuesday.
Police said Angela Jeffreys was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend, Aleem Ali, in the 1900 block of Sterling Street at about 8 a.m.
Jeffreys was sitting in her car preparing to take her 11-year-old daughter to school when Ali approached the vehicle and opened fire.

Mayor Michael Nutter expressed his condolences for the victim's family during an afternoon news conference.
"First thing I want to ask is that we keep all of these families in our prayers, especially the 11-year-old," Nutter said.
The young girl is currently staying with family members.
Authorities said Ali did not have a permit for the gun used in the crime and an investigation is underway into how he obtained the weapon.
