I remember back when I was youngster and watched my grandfather getting all the cows in the barn for milking. They all got this hay with a slop of "black-strap molasses" on it. Seemed help the milking session as the "sweetened hay" divereted their attention. So cows love sweets.
And why not...lotza calories. Works for humans.
