CRITTENDEN, Ky. - A suspected robber is dead after breaking in to a Boone County home early Monday morning.
Three men broke into 92-year-old Earl Jones' home in the 15000 block of Violet Road in Verona at about 2:40 a.m. and Jones shot one of the men as he was coming up the stairs of his basement, according to Boone County spokesperson, Tom Scheben. Jones used his .22 caliber rifle to shoot one of the robbers, Lloyd Maxwell, 24, of Richmond, in the chest.
Saw the guy on local tv. He looks every bit of 92 or whatever. He was wearing a WW2 ball cap with some campaign ribbons. House looked ok.
Boone County is noted for an active sheriff department--aka speed trap. Maybe they should get the cops off the highway and into the neighborhoods. Do you remember the song, "The sheriff of Boone County" ?
