Uke's memory fades daily Pipes, but Richie Valens, Buddy Holly, and "The Big Bopper" all were together in one plane that went down during a big ol' storm, after a show somewhere in Texas, or Oklahoma back in the 1950s'...

Two people shot at pro-marijuana rally in Denver
By Keith Coffman | Reuters 11 hrs ago
DENVER (Reuters) - Two people were shot and wounded at a pro-marijuana rally on Saturday, disrupting the first celebration of a symbolic drug culture holiday since Colorado voters legalized the recreational use of pot.
A man and a woman were each shot in the leg, but those wounds were not life-threatening, Denver police said on Twitter. Officers were looking for two suspects in the shootings, which occurred as the rally was winding down.
"I heard five or six gunshots in quick succession," said Cole Wagenknecht, 27, who attended the rally at a downtown park near the State Capitol. "That's why I knew it wasn't fireworks. Then everybody started to scatter and ran toward one end of the park."
I guess there were two people there who weren't smoking.

John Denver, Rocky Marciano, Aaliyah, Payne Stewart, JFK Jr, Buddy Holly, Stevey Ray Vaughan, Ritchie Valens, Jenni Rivera.

See Cy knows how to play. Of course helicopter crashes count, you could even list Vic Morrow who was killed by a helicopter.

Stevie Ray is no longer able to count.
However, let's look to the definition of helicopter, shall we?
helicopter|helikäptr|nouna type of aircraft that derives both lift and propulsion from one or two sets of horizontally revolving overhead rotors. It is capable of moving vertically and horizontally, the direction of motion being controlled by the pitch of the rotor blades.Compare with autogiro.

Stevie Ray Vaughn...I was in other areas of musical interests when he was doing his thing. I always heard his name mentioned and not knowing what he was bringing to the table but I can say now after some fimiliarization of his works, Stevie Ray was genius/master of the guitar.

...Iowa. 1959...
On February 3, 1959, on what has become known as "The Day the Music Died", Valens died in a small-plane crash in Iowa, a tragedy that also claimed the lives of fellow musicians Buddy Holly and J. P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson. Valens was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
