That is scary. Armageddon around the corner maybe.

Maybe we can create a pile of old cell-phones as ant bait in the future. Maybe a pile of old VCR's will attract them and then you throw a hand grenade into the pile. I dont know. The ants around my place seem to co-operate with me. I give them a place to live and they dont bother the house. I have had several episodes with ants "getting in". Have had to use some brand name sprays to correct the situation and some homemade solutions as well with the primary ingredient "boric acid" mixed with water and some honey I think. I appreciate what the ants do in my garden as they are the ultimate "clean-up" crew and helping out with preying on bad insects that I got to contend with. "Balance" and everything works out.

Some species of ants will speed up the reproduction process when the colony begins die off at a speed beyond a certain threshold. You need to research this to get the borax to sugar ratio right or they replicate with a vengeance just like a computer virus. The workers need to live long enough to bring the sweet treats down to the queen.

I've noticed what I do to "re-direct" ant activity seems to work. I put up a "stop-sign" and they go a different way. I realize their importance in my garden and other places. But when there is an "intrusion" into my space you got to take action.
I have this book by Jerry Baker "Backyard Problem Solver". The book is full of home remedies using household items to make "stange-brews" for pest control. I have made this "Ant Control Tonic" a couple times and its worked.
"Ant Control Tonic"
1 cup of sugar 3 cups of water 1 tbsp of boric acid powder
bring it all to a boil. Use jar lids or similiar to create little "drinking places" along ant trails. I had a trail that ended up in my house that I diffused using this tonic.

The Boric Acid Powder... I found at a pharmacy/drug store. Brand name "HUMCO" Boric Acid, granular, NF. Comes in a 4oz bottle and that will last you a lifetime unless you "live in antville".
I guess it doesnt suprise me one bit what ants
will do next.
