Went to Montana last week and saw a lot of country, mostly green this time of year.
Plan was to see Custer Battlefield, just off I 90 near Hardin Mont. Battlefield is in two main parts and is surrounded by a huge Crow Indian res. From the Maj Reno site is a good place to watch trains moving North / South on what appeared to be BNSF. Some coal, some tankers, and a lot of mixed. Lots of traffic, five or six miles away.
Heading home wife noticed that the mountains to our right were white on top. It appeared that the rain we had in the valley fell as snow on top of the Big Horn mts. This appeared to be ten to twelve thou ft elevation per our map.We could see this snow for an hour, driving south and into WY.
Good trip, but lots of miles ................... wes/ky

We talked of perhaps going to Sitting Bull's battlefield at the last summit. Sounds like a great trip wes...

That is a BNSF line.... splits at Huntley.... heads west to the MRL and Laurel, MT. or north toward the high line...

Hmm, I was there once, in the mid-sixties, bet it looks a lot different now, at that time, it was just a big rolling field with a fenced off cemetery, with a marker that was where they had supposedly found George. Yeah, that's right, I said mid-sixties, Cy is old.

I've been there a couple of times. One day just isn't enough. And the drive...miles and miles of miles and miles.

Yup. Montana calls. Some concerns here. If I do go I may spend way too much money I don't really got on something I really don't need.
It's an addiction issue. You know .

1. Everybody likes Montana--even Ted Turner, who wants to buy it.
2. Driving time from KY wasn't too bad, since we spent a few days in the SD Badlands. There are Buffalo running loose in the Badlands, kept in with cattle guards right on the main highway. Also took a day out to see the Pine Ridge Rez. The wounded knee memorial is here and a tribal college and some other stuff. Indian housing here is the pits.
3. I 90 is an east-west hiway that runs N / S in this part of Montana / Wyoming. BNSF runs right along with the Interstate.
