As many as four dozen people were injured when two Chicago commuter trains crashed in a western suburb during Monday morning rush hour, though none of the injuries appeared to be life threatening, officials said.
The head-on collision happened at 7:45 a.m. CT on the Blue Line part of the Chicago Transit Authority's 24-hour rapid transit service between O'Hare International Airport and the Forest Park terminal, the western terminus of the line. The Blue Line runs through downtown Chicago.
This was one moran comment with a suggestion for accident prevention assurance.

" I'm curious how the attacking train managed to just "roll away."
The "dead man" (which would have come in handy in Quebec a few months ago) requires the motorman keep his hand on the control handle. If that pressure is released, the brakes are automatically applied. This feature has been in place for over a century."
Wonder if someone left a reverser thangy lyin around ?
It is the "windy city" That was likely it.

Think I mentioned this before about turning the calendar
page to the next month and seeing all hell in the first week. Collisions/accidents can end up in the news many
times in the first week of October. October 1th..Sun square
Pluto and Oct. 3rd Sun opposes Uranus. This is about 5-days
worth of some celestial energy the "modern world" has no
experience with. Mishaps and disasters could show-up
during this week on the railroads. The govt can go broke.
Big week for everybody.

I just saw on csx-sucks a post by Mr. Pines wondering why trains didn't have air bag type devices mounted on front to cushion a crash impact
