The realiity of it all is "Winter temperatures" steal my firewood. Been
pretty mild for Jaunary in the GPNW but even that requires 8-10
pieces of firewood in an 8-hour period. Each day the woodpile shrinks
as I load another basket of wood for the night. Notice we are gaining
more sunlight now as its almost light out until 5:30pm. The longer
you can delay heating each day the less wood you burn. A sunny
day can add some free solar-heat from my sunroom which could
keep the house warm well into the dark hours. Still I'm not sure
I ordered up enough firewood every year. May of 2013 the weather
got warm and my woodpile lay there throughout the summer with
8-pieces of firewood left.
My wood supply cannot be got to without me hearing.
Do you know how much noise a vehicle creates driving
on gravel? Besides I'm always around home and if
threatened I got some pitch-forks handy or I can
throw a piece of firewood hard enough to leave a
permanent mark on the thief.
