Been about fifty years since my last train ride----------------- to Ft Jackson SC.
More fun this time tho. Food ok and the train crew friendly. Train on sched to the minute from DC to Maysville, KY. On way to Chicago and some sightseeing.
Trying to sleep thru Indiana was tough--there must be a million farm road crossings in that state; all required two long, one short, and a long. I thot you guys were trying to get some of these cart tracks stopped up.
Train was nearly full with a full crew--I think. At least 4 conductors, 2 on duty and 2 off. We were on CSX rails which were fairly smooth. 60 mph was about top speed. Don't think we spent any time in the hole!
Good trip; don't know how much it cost as bucks were part of a package deal--would do it again.......................wes

Most likely out there they were running 79mph. Train speed is deceiving...

Nah, I think not, Bucket. He was on mostly single track through Ohio and Indiana and it's not 79 MPH territory.

That old Bucket and his Western Rails mentality.
Get your phone out and try driving the Cardinal at 79 mph....
