...meanwhile Uncle Pete tries to come up with a plan ta respond... But what with the public opinion running against BIG rail, anything John Q. Public wants... The Feds may be overwhelmed. For now.

The problem is Oregon needs to band Ukrainian Gypsies from the state.

The UP may have to run all the oil trains at night in Oregon.

Meanwhile across the river in Vancouver (WA) it's the same ol' same ol'. Except last time it was coal...
Phukk 'em. Throttle up. The smart ones will move quickly and I'm guessing even the dummies will move as well.

Back in the olden days one time I complained a bit about the prevalence of night work.
The old clerk laughed and said I should just keep lining myself up for those 2300 wayfreights
because the job slashers bastards only work days and if they see you out there too much
they'll abolish your job. Still workin and yes there are some night runs. Thanks, Bob.

Protesters Arrested for Blocking Railroad in Call for Oil-by-Rail Moratorium
Arrests come as Oregon's governor and others urge the Obama administration to ban oil trains in that state after a fiery crash in the Columbia River gorge.

Do you suppose that's the main that's next to them? There's a signal there.

That 2200 is a RCL, so it's highly doubtful that bunck is blocking an oil train. Then again we can't see what's ahead of the unit. Might be a few emties being switched around... Tough to know about the main, although that signal appears to face the track left of the group.
The photographer posed 'em where it was saphe ta sit!

I think the hoghead should have creeped the geep a little closer to the "obstacle" maybe
to the point where locomotive head end knucke or air hose is in somebodies face and then
do a "reverser centered" 8th notch with the throttle and a lot of bell and whistle.

Alas, the "hoghead" is probably a robot scab in a bionic vest blissfully wearing his nut toaster.
