Springhill Drive in North Albany will be closed for two days beginning August 22 in order to reset and repave the railroad crossing near the Golf Club of Oregon.
Railroad crews will work between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. each day. Drivers will be able to take detours on Quarry Road, North Albany Road and Hickory Street. The project will fix grade issues at the rail crossing and approach.
The project is a partnership between Pacific & Western Railroad and Benton County. Benton Public Works Director Josh Wheeler said he's received multiple complaints about the sunken grade and the noise it creates when trucks roll across it.
The country will provide materials and labor and will repave the grade once the railroad replaces the track.

Gee, thanks for that pertinent information. Now, I know that if I find myself in Albany, OR, anytime in the next couple of days, to avoid North Albany.
As a side note, I've been to Albany, OH, and Albany, IN, but don't expect to ever see the bright lights (are they?) of Albany, OR.

The outfit doing the work...or paying for parts of it, Portland & Western (P&W) is owned by the Gennesee & Wyoming group. Much of their line runs adjacent to hwy. 20 east-west to the coast. mntman drives that route back and forth a bunch lately. They serve pulp mills, lumber mills, and a handful of light industries along the way.

If I should ever find myself in Albany, OR, what should I be sure not to miss?

Only chance I'd ever get out in that area of the BoonDocks is after I retire.
Seeing as ta how Oregon is always on the Top 10 Worst States to Retire to List, That chance sees Slim chasing None out the front door.

Probably other places far worse than Oregon for living in retirement. But hell it's alright dor this dood! Weather ain't bad, my place is okay, choices for groceries excellent! Farm stands sell fresh produce all over, BIG market stores tu. big box stores an easy drive. Same with restaurants. This town of about 17-18,000 souls has Chinese, Thai, American...and chain places. Two excellent Mexican Joints right in town, and two barbecue trucks (pork/chicken, etc.).
Yeah we have income tax, and property taxes. But NO sales tax! Land/houses are reasonable to buy. Weather suits yers truly! This side if the Cascades... Very low humidity, sunny, hot... Spring-wet. Winter-mild. Fall-nice! No snow last winter.
Gasoline prices vary, but check GasBuddy.com Everything else... Ya gotta spend some time and see how any place feels. You know how ta find anything ya wanna know about anything right? Google it...
Next town over, county seat. Albany, OR
