Wonder why they didn't immediately start evacuating the bus. I don't know about now but my sister once lived in Biloxi on the Air Force base about two blocks from this line and it was a busy one then.

A Tour bus like the one involved is not like a School Bus. There is no back door to open and jump out. The only way in or out is thru the front doors, or in an emergency, thru the emergency windows.
Needless to say the structural integrity of the bus is decided by bean counters who can quote you how many times a bus would be striken in the side and then shoved 10 car lenghts.
There is nothing but seat material, a thin skin of aluminum, andd body parts of the people sitting in the window seats between the pilot of the locomotive and the frame rails of the bus.
This is where the fatalities probably occurred. Add to that propogation of broken glass thruout and the screaming and hysteria of maybe getting an emergency window open only to discover that its a long way down to the ground. So youre gonna wait for the firetrucks or someone with a ladder.
Musta been a new driver who was not familiar with the area, cause the deep grooves in the pavement and the signage indicating low ground clearance give away the fact that the trouble here is well known.
Maybe he had a funny sounding name and was a terrist (bad hombre) from one of six said "bad dude" countries.
