An Amtrak conductor was shot Tuesday afternoon at the downtown NapervilleMetra station by a passenger firing from the train window who is now in custody, Naperville police Cmdr. Lou Cammiso said.
The suspect is a Wisconsin man in his 70s who shot the conductor as he stood on the train platform, Cammiso said. A gun has been recovered, he said.
The conductor, an Amtrak employee, suffered an "non life-threatening gunshot wound,'' according to a statement from Amtrak.
The wounded conductor, 45 and of Homewood, suffered a single gunshot wound to the torso, Cammiso said.
