A close analysis of this story reveals that this incident did NOT happen on the main in Maine.
EAST KINGSTON, N.H. Fire officials in East Kingston say no one was hurt when an Amtrak Downeaster train hit a car that was stuck on the train tracks.

Many apologies for misleading *cy* into really, really bad newspaper reporting! Yes it is ***'s failure to do better research. Train movements, and schedules (for Amtrak) must be re-read carefully, in order NOT to pass along misleading information.

The driver said she isn't from the area and was using a GPS system. She followed it onto the train tracks. (the perfect excuse)
Amtrak officials say the Amtrak Downeaster train was traveling from Portland, Maine, to Boston. There were 56 passengers aboard the train.
GPS kills many drivers every year, according to the USDOT
